Are these players worth all this hoopla? Will LSU, aTm, Texas intentionally defy conference rules and roster these players knowing the SEC and every conference AC & President unanimously agreed not to play these guys?

weird line to draw, he did apparently sign a summer league agreement which paid him room and board while he played in games on NBA rosters. But that is somehow very different from signing an NBA contract or an NFL contract to be on a practice squad for a couple of weeks before being cut and never playing in any games.

LSU can recruit, pay and play these former NFL players.
They will just have to pay a $25 million fine, have their coach suspended for half the season, lose their ability to vote on SEC matters, have all the games those players participated in vacated and possibly get kicked out of the SEC.

Just my opinion, but this is more about setting rules than these specific players.

SEC bylaws are clear. Membership is voluntary, but being a member requires members to abide by league rules.
At this point it would be best for everyone involved if LSU disassociated from the SEC and became an independent.

So yes, the SEC has been very inconsistent on this matter.
