You are talking about a lawsuit. Remember? These details matter.
The coach is being discriminated against by the rules that the coach (by way of his university) voted and approved.
So the coach is going to sue himself? His employer?
The "kids" (aka players) get public sympathy. Lane Kiffin is probably the highest paid public employee in Louisiana. He isn't getting sympathy. If he believes in the players, then put them on the field and accept the consequences.
That is what principled people do.

There's no way around it. The conference does not trump the law. As the rulings currently stand, the conference's position is illegal

Who knows. I don't see how the conference can pay off/bribe multiple judges across the country

The player can play.
The school is being discriminated against.
Plain as day.
So the lawsuit must be the school versus the conference.
The school agreed to the rule and agreed to be a part of the conference.
So the school is suing on the grounds that they are being subject to the rules that they themselves put in place.
What is a judge going to do?
Tell the school to stop voting for rules that make their own decisions difficult?
