LSU won’t be instigating this, but the SEC was late to the rule announcement.

And what discovery do you think that would be, that lsu contacted college eligible athletes by law of the American Justice system?

It definitely affects the players. It decreases their earning potential if the SEC Coaches can't take them

Considering the multiple national media reports saying they did, it's probably not something LSU wants to roll the dice on with discovery.

The NCAA said you can't play. Of course they got sued.
The SEC didn't say that. They said their member institutions will get penalized if they play these players. And it won the vote of its members.
There's no tort there.

The class action lawsuit was done in June 2026 by 18 players in Colorado. You think LSU was behind that?

Discovery can go both ways. What about the idea that the SEC office planned and orchestrated the timing of this to force legislation-intentionally harming this one class of athletes?

The August 2026 lawsuit in Louisiana which this entire thread discussion is based off of? Personally, no idea. But plenty in the national media certainly seem to think so.
The Colorado lawsuit is wholly irrelevant to the Louisiana lawsuit as Colorado is federal and Louisiana is state. At least until the plaintiffs in Louisiana try to sue the SEC and it gets dragged into federal court. Where the federal court has currently prohibited players from playing would be the precedent.

If they sue the SEC, there is no avenue for them to get a state court TRO or injunction against the SEC.
The entirety of the players v. SEC lawsuit would be in federal court. They can't get a state TRO if the lawsuit isn't in state court.
In order for a state court to grant a TRO on a case, the case actually has to be before them in state court. A court can't grant something in a case that's sitting in an entirely different jurisdiction.
