Missouri fans for the most part do t care about Arkansas and the feeling is mutual. For Arkansas it is definitely Texas now that the game is back. For Missouri…most ofd their fans have a real hate for Kansas and no one else. I like all rivalries…real ones and not contrived. Such as A and M and Texas. Or RR Shootout…those are real. SEC historically has always been about the real rivalries. Hard to choose a favorite.

I’d go with Alabama v Tennessee. It’s been played 107 times and they are old school programs.
Some of the SEC matchups don’t have near the history. Take the LSU v Florida series. 69 total games. Good series (like many in the SEC) but how do you say they are rivals when you don’t face off annually?
But I still think OU tx is the best. Been played 125 times. More characters and colorful history than any rivalry in the country. Including Ohio State and Michigan.
The wishbone documentary on SEC network highlights one of the greatest eras in the rivalry s history.

My list is conflicted now. During the Saban years I would say LSU/Bama because I don’t think anyone can deny this was always the game of the year during those years. That game was way more important and way more fun to watch than Bama/Tenn idc what bama fans say. Now with Saban gone this game doesn’t mean as much anymore but with LK the game could mean more again.
My 2nd choice would probably be Red River for obvious reasons.

Georgia won a couple during the Spurrier years. Kirby is not unbeatable.

You are correct. LSU bama was one of the best regular season games for a decade or more. But never really considered Bama a rival, it was an impactful game. A lot of Tiger fans thought they hated Saban; for leaving, but that’s something different. For me it’s always been Ole Miss. and as several have stated, it will be intense again, because of Kiffen. Now move the game back to the end of October where it belongs please!

You can argue all over the place regarding what is the best rivalry...
Who hates who the most, who has the most fights and stabbings, which is the highest stakes game, best traditions... and all that... and you can make a case for a lot of different games. In fact one of the things that hurts the RRS in this argument is that it isn't on rivalry weekend.
But that is the irony. when you add up all the factors and then throw in the setting... Nothing compares to the Red River game. Being at the fair makes that game a grander event than any other game. There are as many people milling about the fair as as there are inside the stadium.... It is as much a spectacle as it is a game.
Yet if you moved it to the end of the season where some of the other rivalry factors could be bumped up... you lose the elements of the fair.... which would knock it back down.

To be honest, the most underrated rivalry in the SEC was Ole Miss - Arkansas. The games have always been nail-biters and the series is historically close with Arkansas holding a 37-34-1 slight series advantage.
I'm really going to miss playing them annually.

VFL67...thanks for pointing out Tenn/Bama as a rivalry. Thanks to everyone for chiming in on this thread...I love the rivalry games and college football as a whole. I have always admired the passion that SEC fans have for their teams and the games.
