It's also clear when the SEC dominated the BIG in terms of tv viewership for 2025.

Very true...but again...that viewership is mostly in the South.

Sponsors are looking for the NATIONAL/International Brand and that is the B1G. Thus why CBS and NBC will take the 2nd and 3rd best games in the B1G instead of the best game in the SEC.
Yes.

Much easier to watch from my living room with no one around...especially the last 10 years while yelling at James Franklin. :rotflmao:
94 PSU offense was the best I have ever seen until the 2019 LSU Tigers. Those teams are scary similar.

VOLS by double digits.

If you are talking about number of moonshine stills...yes Tenn will crush them by double digits. If you are talking football...you will be lucky to be within 3 TD's of Texas.

re: Is Kalen Deboer on the hot seat?

No.

Everyone raided Bama after Saban left...DeBoer took all the leftovers and won...hell, the guy turned Michael Penix into a 1st round pick, he knows what he is doing...patience is a virtue.
Derrick Thomas beat Penn State one year by himself.

True story...it was brutal to watch.

1. Bama...most storied program in CFB history
2. Texas...top 5 most storied program
3. Oklahoma...top 10 most storied program
4. Georgia...top 15 most storied program
5. LSU...some people willing to spend $$$ to win

Would you rather this be what people think of men in the south?
2019..Burrow and Tua battled in a great one...in my 65 years of existence...one of the top 5 games of all time for me.

Of course the '83 Sugar Bowl win over Georgia to be '82 National Champs is #1.

Followed closely by the 1987 Fiesta Bowl win over the U...lol.
Offensively...yes that 2019 LSU was one of the top 2 of all time.

However, their defense and special teams were average at best.
Confucious say...the one with the fewest points in the first SEC game played...

How is this debatable?

If you are born a boy you ARE a BOY.
If you are born a girl you ARE a GIRL.

Your 2022 loss to us was pure coaching. The Nits couldn't stop your run game in the 2nd half and unbelievably, your OC decided to stop running...to this day it's still a headscratcher...

VFL67...thanks for pointing out Tenn/Bama as a rivalry. Thanks to everyone for chiming in on this thread...I love the rivalry games and college football as a whole. I have always admired the passion that SEC fans have for their teams and the games.

I am old enough or just plain old...lol...but old enough to remember how much fun Thanksgiving weekend or the weekend before Thanksgiving was back in the day with these rivalries...

A&M/Texas in the SWC
Nebraska/Oklahoma in the Big 8
Auburn/Bama SEC
Ole Miss/State SEC
Ohio State/Michigan Big 10
USC/UCLA - PAC 8 and then PAC 10
Pitt/Penn State - Independents
Army/Navy - Greatest Rivalry Game ever.

How do you not put Tennessee/Bama?

Spoke with a friend who is a Bama fan...he said this was a rivalry in the 60's and 70's but with Tenn falling off the map it is not a rivalry game anymore. His words, not mine.

That's why I asked for others input if you had one. I could probably oput Bama with everyone and it is a rivalry game...lol.

Which SEC rivalry game is your favorite?...outside of YOUR teams rivalry games.

Florida/Georgia
Bama/Auburn
Ole Miss/Miss St.
Arkansas/Missouri
Texas/A&M
A&M/LSU
LSU/Ole Miss
Florida/Tenn
Georgia/Auburn
Tenn/Vandy

Or another that maybe I forgot...

re: Is it time to replace Sankey

Posted by NitsFan71 on 8/4/26 at 12:34 pm to
The B1G football culture, as you stated, is not the same as the collective of smaller SEC markets across the South. This last part is the SEC's problem...the Networks are trying to attract the most eyeballs across the country.

The SEC has the South locked down...however the B1G has more eyeballs from coast to coast...that is what the TV networks want.
Sankey is in a tough spot.

Does the SEC have some of the best traditions in all of college football? Absolutely.

Does the SEC have some of the best stadiums in CFB? Without a doubt.

Does the SEC have some of the best talent in the game? YES

Does the SEC have the most rabid fans? Yes and not even close...

Does the SEC have the largest alumni bases in the USA? Nope, the B1G has 7 of the top 10 largest alumni bases...only Texas and A&M made the top 10 in SEC.

Does the SEC have the top TV Markets? No again..the B1G has 4 of the top 5 and that 1 that isn't B1G country is Dallas.

The last two items on the list are why CBS took the 2nd best B1G game each week over the best SEC game each week. Those are the items that matter to TV execs when they are paying out Billions to the B1G.
If those really are the numbers then what is the REAL reason that CBS chose the #2 B!G game each week instead of the top SEC game?
