Hogs/Horns is an underrated rivalry. A lot of hate in that one.

Tennessee/Auburn was a true Old School SEC rivalry that was lost with the addition of divisions. Since 1992, they have played each other 11 times (2 of those being SEC Championship Games). So, they have only scheduled each other 9 times over 34 seasons (an average of 1 game every 3.8 seasons). From 1900-1991 (92 seasons) they played each other a total of 45 times (an average of right at 1 game every 2.0 seasons). Between the start of the SEC in 1932 and the addition of divisions in 1992 (61 seasons) they played each other 43 times (an average of 1 game every 1.4 seasons).
For comparison, between the start of the SEC in 1932 and the addition of divisions in 1992, Alabama and Auburn played each other a total of 43 times. So from the formation of the conference to the formation of divisions...Auburn played Tennessee the exact same number of games as they played Alabama.

A long way to say that familiarity breeds contempt. Divisions created a ton of new rivals. BAMA was a decent rival of LSU and played every year for the most part before divisions. But the Saban Bowl created a nuclear explosion. BAMA still dominated, but the game got bigger nationally.

Egg Bowl during the Freeze/Mullen era was elite. That was a rare moment when both teams were still playing for meaningful post season spots so the game meant even more to the fans.
I have a feeling the LSU/Ole Miss game will be similar but probably not as toxic. If it were last game of the year maybe, but the timing of the game being so early means it won’t have the same emotional impact for the team who loses.

The last time Nick Saban played Tennessee he won. His record against the viles was 16-1, and most of those victories were haymakers. So, other than to say you are pretty much an idiot with that kind of reasoning, I say, learn to respect your betters.

Look it up. Neyland Stadium was renamed Tuscaloosa North years ago. You would know this if your college football wisdom went longer than a 5-minute egg.

Rarely mentioned among the best rivalry games, but will be must see tv this season.
I bet the ratings for this game are going to be off the charts. This is the game I am probably most looking forward to outside of my own team's games.
