Seems like he is staying

But on social media he's going to look great in purple? Ask any LSU fan, they'll tell you. Oh, and that they're going to win the Super Bowl next year, also.

Merry Christmas, rant.

Thanks dude, I needed that.
Solid post and glad to have you.

I'm addressing your assertion that Jon was available for us to hire. He wasn't and I've given two reasons why.

I'm not implying anything about Lane. Ole Miss fires him without cause and it's a 35-million-dollar payoff for him. Who would do this?

That's all. I'm not digging into what "Ole Miss insiders" (who are these people?) are back tracking on or whatever. Wading into that soup is for people who spend their life wringing their hands over things they have no control over. Not being in meetings, the week of the Egg Bowl is the first I've heard of it. To be blunt there's a lot of that I've read over the past few weeks that is easy to get sucked into, I'm guilty of participating in some of it, and is it gossip? Maybe. It's poison all around and what does it serve? Really.

This was a shitshow.

For sure.
Try to follow the bouncing ball on this one:

You said, "I would have hired Jon Sumrall in your situation."

Jon was NOT available. Why? Because Lane was still our coach until November 30th when he said he was going to LSU.

That same day, Jon was "introduced" not potentially, not considering, not might still be available and deal hasn't been made, but introduced as the head football coach of Florida.

What you're implying is that they what, pulled together a contract on the 30th and he wasn't even working on anything with Florida??? Wow.

And what is it? We were supposed to be working on a deal with Jon not knowing if Lane was staying or going? Does that sound reasonable to you? Sounds like if Lane stays and we have a deal with Jon we're standing in a big pile of shite.

You made a statement, I asked for proof.

You can't provide it, call that what you may.

From here it just looks like more Ole Miss BS that turned out to be false.

I'm sure that's how it looks to an LSU fan.

You made a claim, I'm asking who reported that and all you can do is deflect and insult.

And you're being intentionally obtuse.

I'm not going to participate.

Who said it was done before the Egg Bowl?

Wow. Are you really that dense?

According to whom?

Don't make me laugh.

Yeah I'm sure he wasn't talking to anyone until the 30th.
Sumrall was introduced as the Florida head coach on November 30th. That deal was done before the egg bowl, which was the 28th.

Wasn't available. Already committed to Florida.

You sure you want to keep going?
Would love to hear the rant's expert opinion on what gem was available in the coaching pool that we should have considered.

This ought to be good.
Yeah, I don't know that everyone is really ready for it the same way. I'm not suggesting that he never wanted to be a HC but I think people's timing is important to note here and that it's not universal.
I will submit this; I know he said he didn't want to be a head coach and in my experience, guys who don't generally have the desire to lead and have been placed into positions of leadership whether that be because they didn't have a choice or because someone out there just believed in their potential and put them there, have turned out to be very successful leaders. Again, that has been my experience.

I'm not suggesting that you can book on that here but everyone's gotta start somewhere and guys who take on that role who didn't want it, generally embrace that responsibility and understand what they're taking on when they have to answer the call. They sponge as much as possible, so they are successful

I get that vibe from him. Whether that translates into success remains to be seen and I'm hopeful. I guess we'll see.
Dude, why are you so angry?

There's gotta be a greasy spoon somewhere close to you. Go get something to eat.
