This all has to have been building behind the scenes for some time. There's got to be a lot more going on here than meets the public eye. LSU fans can gloat all they like about how Sankey is afraid of Kiffin but it sounds like the entire rest of the conference is pretty unified against them, so they have clearly been up to something that the league as a whole does not like and this latest situation is merely what has brought it all to a head. I'm just glad that Alabama is not in this position and would be both highly embarrassed and very uneasy if they were.

It's odd how Kiffin was just fine for the SEC while at Ole Miss but now his antics are unacceptable at LSU.

1 - If Sankey filed this amendment, he's already got the majority vote for expulsion in hand.
2 - Removing Kiffin (or LSU entirely in this case) is the easiest initial move to ensure the inmates don't end up running the asylum.
3 - Sankey could fill LSU's spot with 3 ACC teams and move to that 16 number.

I actually agree with your first sentence. The public facts don't remotely explain the level of escalation we're seeing. But you're assuming the missing piece must be some secret history of LSU misconduct. There's another explanation: this stopped being about two players the moment LSU successfully challenged the SEC's authority in court.
I don't know what the vote is going to be, but the fact there will even be one... and if it isn't a unanimous 16-0 against, then I think this entire conference is going to be on shaky ground. I think this kind of shite is a suicide pill. I also think Sankey will not be the commissioner this time next year.

Sankey tried to force Kiffin to stay at Ole Miss.

You just said the punishment doesn't fit the crime and you have no idea what the crime is, so why would you be embarassed?

No they can't - SEC wasn't willing to pay ACC media rights buy-outs before they would get sued to death by the state of Louisiana, sure as hell can't afford it after + ESPN is going to lower their pay out.

There is no way this happens. I can't even fathom it. Seriously.
Let's say it does for argument sake. Do you think LSU just ceases to exist? Perhaps we go independant for a season or two. But do you think there won't be big money floated out there to create another conference with LSU as a cornerstone? Do you think Texas and Alabama can remain in a conference that just kicked LSU out for literally breaking no rules?
The more I'm reflecting on this, the more I can't believe it's happening. The country's biggest and most successful conference is commiting suicide before our very eyes.

There are at least three parties who are not thinking about this rationally in Sankey, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.
Sankey has no excuse. His job description is to be an adult and never take things personally.
I get that your ex will never like you after you dump them but even Tennessee and Mississippi should think in bigger terms. But you should just get your revenge on the field
