this stopped being about two players the moment LSU successfully challenged the SEC's authority in court.

It's about Kiffen and the power vacuum which is LSU administration.

So it's short sighted? It'll likely be all new people in 5 years.

why do people, including LSU fans, keep saying that LSU challenged the SEC in court?
It seems to me that the SEC and it’s other member institutions believe LSU was behind the “players lawsuit” that was conveniently filed in Baton Rouge and then amended to prevent the SEC from preventing players from signing and playing at schools. Then it was further amended to prevent the SEC from punishing said schools.

That on top of the Cleveland Browns head coach publicly stating that Kiffin reached out to talk about Wright a week before the initial lawsuit was filed means that it’s pretty obvious who is really behind all of this.

The SEC and its other members feel like they have enough evidence to pursue this in federal court and expel LSU. With the amendment that was added to the federal lawsuit today, it seems like the SEC may have the votes to remove them and are making sure federal courts say they have that authority. Because they probably anticipate LSU counter suing in a Louisiana state court to prevent the expulsion of LSU if the vote goes that way, so this federal case would kill that avenue.
