A Democrat publication ranks red states poorly in desperate attempt to stop the relentless tide of corporate relocations and population out of blue states. They use stats created by blue cities (crime, pollution, etc.) to make red states look bad!

“no Mississippi

list is shite”

Yep, we like being lowballed. We don’t want people to know how good we have it and start moving here. So not being on this list is discombobulating, disturbing and concerning.

Dear Californians and Yankees,

This list is 100% correct. It is unsafe for you to leave your haven and move to Tennessee, Texas or any other state on this list. If you have already moved here, you must return to your home state at once - for you own safety.

I don't know how there aren't more northern states on this list.

With the amount of snow some of these states get, to the point that you can't really do much outside for a large portion of the year- just seems miserable to me. I like being outside.

I DEMAND A RECOUNT!!!

SC should be on this list!! It’s a terrible place to live!!

California is the place to be! Or, better yet, MEXICO!

Heavy SEC representation on this list,

Heavy black population representation, outside of Utah. Which is hilarious it made the list.

Elephant in the room. If you avoid the 50%+ black cities/neighborhoods in the red states, all of the quality of life metrics skyrocket.

I find migration lists interesting, but mostly because I'm always curious about CONTEXT.

How many were due to retirement?
How many were due to jobs?
How many were due to financial reasons outside of the specific job (taxes, etc.)?
How many were due to wanting to reconnect to family?
How many were due to politics?
Did college residency factor at all (living in dorms is treated as temporary residence, but some get apartments and jobs... do they end up counting when they leave)?

For example, only two states in the Southeast had a net loss:
Mississippi (practically breaking even at under 1,000 lost)
Louisiana, which lost over 14,000

I doubt it's as easy as Red State / Blue State when you really dig into it.
Yes, Florida and Texas grew the most; but Minnesota, Washington, Oregon, Delaware all grew. Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Kansas all lost.

Also, percentages mean a lot.

California had the highest total; however, that equates to 0.6% of their population; Louisiana lost 0.3% of theirs. Raw numbers, California lost WAY more than Louisiana, but they also had a lot more TO lose; in relation to population size, it's more akin to twice as many.

Or for better perspective, Texas' growth was 0.2%; Alabama's, on the other hand, was 0.5%. Florida's is 0.1% (thanks to rounding).

These numbers are interesting, but paint with such broad strokes as to end up not really meaning much. When states have populations numbering in the 10s of millions, these numbers aren't telling much. Smaller states can read a lot more into these numbers than big ones.

CNBC has a bias against all of those states for something they have in common. I will let you figure it out.

Dinged for requiring voter ID and not having drive thru abortion clinics?

The stupid universities...all of them...keep pumping out brain dead, liberal "journalism" graduates...and we're all worse off for it.

Wish someone would tell that to all the people moving to Texas.

I bet Tennessee, Indiana, etc would appreciate the same.

Article says "civil rights laws" is one of the criteria, so obviously getting pinged for outlawing abortion and trans surgery for minors.

But any media with "NBC" in the name has a very low trust score for any objective observer.

Dings Utah for it's air quality, then posts a pic with this caption

Isn't great when they post the photo of the largest free standing structure west of the Mississippi. I mean, it was a structure built that high for the sole purpose of getting whatever is vented (it isn't a smoke stack, it is our venting structure) up and out of the valley.

BTW, there is an elevator in it. You have to wear fall protection and stay tied off while up there, but the view is impressive.
