LSU needs to go test-required and set some reasonable minimum standards ASAP. Once any school or neighborhood crosses a certain threshold, white flight happens and that is the end. I've never seen it at a college, but its happened at many high schools.

Hey Auburn **** - your school (assuming any of you count actually attended) is inferior to A&M in every respect. We have scoreboard in football, baseball and basketball. Your school is ranked below A&M in virtually everything. Every area that you regard as an academic strength is rated lower than the corresponding department at A&M. If A&M is a "bottom", that makes Auburn the pile of shite that just came out of it.

They are exactly like LSU and Bama. Flagship campus in a small state, don't give a damn about academics and stake their entire identity on football. They are football programs that have mediocre universities with no other distinguishing features attached like a parasitic twin. Perfect SEC fit.

Competent welders, electricians and HVAC technicians in the South have great career prospects. Much better than the bottom half of college graduates. I'd rather my son do that than try to find work with a degree in communications or _____ studies.

Arkansas recruits Texas kids hard (not just athletes, and not just DFW).
We have a messed up situation in Texas where many kids prefer to leave the state if they cannot get into the two big state schools. Tech needs to step up and get serious - a state this large cannot get by on just two well-regarded public schools and a handful of small private schools like Rice & SMU. The opportunity is wide open for Tech if they would make it their main priority. They need to be known more for academics and less for partying.
