He has at some point take a chance and his career wasn't going to get better staying at a place like Memphis.

If he fails then he goes back to being a coordinator or position coach.

If he succeeds then he can have a long career here.

It isn't that hard. Bert, Chad and Pittman made it harder on themselves than they should because they couldn't accomplish the bare minimum needed to have a long tenure.

Don't lose to Toledo. Don't lose to Liberty. Don't lose to Memphis. Stop losing fourth quarter one possession games. Stop turning the ball over and stop with these stupid penalties. Stop with the winless SEC seasons.

This is a deeper problem than Long and Yuracheck.

This is the ongoing political aftermath of the retirement of Frank Broyles that ruled Arkansas for over 50 years.

He was able to mask the problems of Arkansas for many decades until father time caught up with him.

When he died in 2017, did you notice how everything snowballed from that point on?

Jeff Long was fired. Bert Soon after and they hired a 14-22 Chad Morris and Yuracheck soon after. Hunter wasn't able to make his hire and Chad was hired by you guessed it, a search committee that had no experience in any hiring process.

Pittman had no head coaching experience and no program would hire him for good reason. But Arkansas did.

Serious programs don't make these brain dead decisions.

We are not and that is why we suck.

I do want Silverfied to be successful here. He has to navigate around a bunch of dumbasses and I'm afraid the retard is just too strong at Arkansas for him to overcome.

I remember watching a YouTube video that explained people going to the movies because they had air conditioning.

2010 Arkansas could have.

I wouldn't trust him with money.

They could have picked anyone and certainly didn't need this jester showing up.

Surely we can do better than the Nutt.

The monkey with a whistle.

Now he needs to visit Oklahoma State, Murray State, Boise State and Ole Miss.
LSU has done pretty good and they had to face the Saban domination that took a lot potential conference and national titles out of the picture.

Arkansas doesn't have the money unless they took all the money away from basketball and baseball and poured into football then you might see a difference. That isn't going to happen.

Arkansas like the Mississippi schools just don't have the money.

I don't know about that. Oklahoma was loaded and only had three close games all year.

Auburn would give them a game but Oklahoma would still win.

Most players on team hated him.

The first protest game was North Texas. I can remember on one play the offensive linemen all stood still as John Stephen Jones was sacked by eight North Texas players.

The second was Western Kentucky when the players allowed Ty Storey to run all over them and congratulated him after the game.

Maybe and he certainly didn't have a backup plan as pretty much everyone said no. Instead of going after realistic options, he wasted too much time on coaches that were a long shot and should have pivoted to plan B. Instead it's down to plan E and that gets you a Pittman.

I doubt he was the mastermind behind the hiring of Petrino. At this moment in time, he was expecting his termination to be very soon. But someone higher up on the food chain told his agent to hire Petrino and Pittman can keep his job.

Yuracheck should been fired after the 2023 season. He doesn't have assertiveness to be a good AD here like Frank. He allows himself to get bullied. You need an AD that can keep everyone in line and that has been an issue since 2006.

That was Petrino past his prime.

2004 to 2011 was at his peak.

After the motorcycle crash, he wasn't the same coach.

Yes it would be a bad hire. Besides his offense, he doesn't have the aptitude to be successful in the era of NIL.

Now rewind the clock and April 2012 doesn't happen then Petrino would have Arkansas in the top 25 every season.

Arkansas broke Muss. The pressure got him. He was doing just fine here until his second to last season when he failed to go on a final four run and he caught hell from hog fans as he had the best recruiting class in school history until this year. He signed a top 10 portal class the season after but he was ready to leave and just went through the motions.

Yes it wasn't for John Tyson, Arkansas would have made a stupid hire.

I'm a minority on here when it came to hiring Petrino.

He had seven chances to prove to Arkansas that he was capable of being the head coach here. Win a few SEC games. Maybe just one, anything but a 0-8 SEC season.

What led me against his hiring was the State game. That was it and I was ready to move on.

The problem with Bert is that he underestimated the SEC and he overestimated his worth as a head coach. He didn't have the work ethic to be successful in the SEC and he was always a drinker but it got worse here than previous stops.

Chad was a dumbass that should have never been hired here. It was a lazy coaching search led by individuals who had no clue in what they were doing.

Pittman did try at first but he was looking to get as much money as he could because he had no plans of having a long tenure here. He wasn't going to stress out at a job when he knew that his stay was going to be short.

Chad went 14-22 at SMU.

The Arkansas media did what it could to shine that turd as much as possible.

It was was and it turned out to be a terrible hire.

That was disaster right after the Colorado State game.

He wasn't hired by an AD because Arkansas fired long just weeks before firing Bert. Arkansas went full retard because you don't fire the AD and fire the head coach a few weeks later and expect things to run smoothly.

Pittman wasn't the idiot that Chad was but didn't have the stamina to be a head coach. Pittman didn't expect to get a call from Arkansas and it just shows how poorly run Arkansas was when they could have contacted thousands of head coaches that had real experience.

Fans like to blame Yuracheck for just about everything and he does deserve some criticism. But you must keep in mind that he is doing the will of individuals that pay for his salary and he is just nothing more than a puppet.

You didn't have that with Broyles and this is why Arkansas in the past was competent and solid. Unlike now the dysfunction that keeps on going today.
Petrino would have had us 7-5/8-4/9-3 every year.

I don't see why Silverfied can't do the same and so far doesn't have the negative traits that has doomed previous head coaches here.

I don't see the talent difference between the Bert, Chad and Pittman teams compared to Petrino except he was a bit more depth heavy on offense.

Now it didn't start getting bad until last year when Arkansas was getting blue light specials from the portal and it was all on defense.

Arkansas should be good enough to avoid losing seasons every year.

Arkansas from the Broyles, Holtz and Hatfield years went almost 25 years without a losing season.

It was a lot more than that.

Petrino took a knee the year before to show respect.

After the death of Garrett Uekman, Petrino and the team was very emotional in that game.

Les Miles did not and it showed a lack of sportsmanship to an opponent that was suffering the loss of a beloved player.

Probably because of this.

LSU doesn't really care. They are more annoyed that people call it a rivalry and the SEC forced them into it.

They care much more about Alabama and Ole Miss. Having the Arkansas game after the Alabama game has frustrated them for years Because when they lost, they get into a funk and don't play as hard in the Arkansas game.
It should have been a first down if was in a different conference.

If it wasn't for the facemask, Calcagni would have scored a TD.

The game should have ended with a 13-13 tie.

This was by the worst and it really showed how corrupt the SWC was. We didn't just hate Texas, we hated the entire conference.

My grandfather was an Army boxer and he would make short work of him in his prime.
