I love the guy, I really do, but as already mentioned it’s 16/17 Jalen Hurts. He was an amazing scrambler and pretty decent at short passes. But against elite teams when the field needed to be stretched he couldn’t do it. He was deified by the media regardless.

Roll out to the right and fire it out of bounds still haunts my dreams.

2016 vs Clemson should’ve been a blowout with how long the D held Watson and Co. down but Jalen was a nonexistent threat through the air.

In fact, with Mac Jones or AJ McCarron, Bama probably goes 30-0 those two years

Easy for us if you’re talking college careers only.

I guess it depends on the qualifiers for overrated, but an honorable mention for Alan Cockrell.

Guess I should have stated I meant fan base hype, not necessarily their high school ratings.

I remember people acting like JPW was Brady.

Do we need to discuss what "overrated" means?

He wasn't rated at all as I recall.

In Kelly's defense, he was an absolute monster for the Nashville Kats of the Arena Football League.

Relative to the hype generated and the coaching implications this answer for arky fans is the winner.

For LSU, Josh Booty. He wasn’t bad but not nearly what he was built up to be.

I think in that case I'd still go with Blake Barnett.

The hype train for that dude was off the charts, then he panicked in the USC game and never came back.

That’s my fault. I didn’t state what I meant. I don’t really care about high school ratings because college is a whole different beast.

Someone made that statement about Bo Nix. He looked great on high school, but there wasn’t as much talent around him in Alabama high school as there would have been in Texas, Louisiana, etc.

I could still see that. I think people thought Kiffin would wreck the world with Barnett

I did. I was fully bought-in on Barnett.

He was among the top five or six QBs in the country coming out, then ended up at Arizona State for a stint and finally South Florida, I think.

Jevan Snead. His last year was such a disappointment

People were swearing up and down that he was going to be the answer to our problems since he came from Miami, which meant he'd be really good. Overhyped, overrated, it's all the same.
