those relationships were forged through Israeli victory in war.
With a shite ton of US foreign aid and US military support.

Israel hasn't won a war without external support since they rebelled against the British Mandate.

Those treaties occurred after failed invasions of Israel and those Arab states decided they'd had enough of getting their asses kicked.

For Egypt, yeah. And Israel gave the Sinai back to Egypt and the US agreed to give Egypt a bunch of foreign aid. Jordan and Israel hadn't been at war in over 20 years. Jordan even kicked the PLO out in the mid-1970s. The status quo would have been okay, but Uncle Sugar provided an incentive for an actual peace treaty.

It's basically what the Palestinians have refused to do
Why should they? US official policy is for a Two State solution and has been since 2002. Since then, there have been at least 500K new Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

This was in 2012.

Netanyahu said Iran was less than a year away from a nuclear weapon at this UN meeting.

Israel is surrounded by 6 Arab countries, all of whom have expressively proclaimed their desire for the destruction of Israel.
Egypt and Israel have had a peace treaty since 1979. Egypt participates in the blockade on Gaza.

Jordan and Israel have had a peace treaty since 1994. Jordan helped intercept some missiles and/or drones Iran launched towards Israel since October 7th.

Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982 during their civil war. Israel invaded Lebanon in 2006. They've had a cease fire agreement since last year.

Israel occupies the Golan Heights, and has taken control of more Syrian territory since the fall of the Assad regime. Israel agreed to disengage from the Golan Heights in 1974. Since then, Israel has placed 25,000 settlers in the Golan Heights and passed funding in 2021 to double the amount of Israeli settlers in the area.

So that's the four countries that border Israel. What are the other two you are referring to?

What you want see is how they treat their people without seeing on a video. Their people have been under a maniacal leader who has oppressed his people. I guarantee that most citizens are glad to see what is happening. But nothing will change unless there is a regime change
TIL I learned Paul Wolfowitz is an LSU fan.

But what about, according to several news sources, the fact that there are 100,000+ U.S. citizens in Israel?
How many of those 100K are also Israeli citizens?
quote:

Israel telling us what they want to do doesn’t mean we conspired with them or were apart of it?

We give Israel enough money directly and indirectly (by paying off Jordan and Egypt) where they should be doing what we tell them to do, not just them telling us what they want to do.

Im fully aware at what we are told:
-Iran sponsors terrorists
Yeah, and they have since 1979.
-Iran hates America
Their government hates our foreign policy, and specifically our unwavering support for Israel.
-Iran wants to eradicate Jews
If this was true, they would start with the Jews in Iran. There are somewhere north of 9,000 Jews in Iran.
-Iran wants to eradicate Chriistians
If this were true, they'd start with the Christians in Iran. There are at least 300K Christians in Iran. Judaism and Christianity are recognized minority religions in Iran.
-Should Iran get nukes they will then immediately nuke Israel, no questions asked
If you believe in MAD, then this is simply not true. I am of the belief that despite the rehortic, Iran is a rational actor because if they didn’t behave rationally, the regime would have self destructed many years ago.
I understand this probably goes against the grain on this board.

Minus a deployment to Afghanistan and some effort spent analyzing the Lords Resistance Army (before the Kony 2012 shite made it popular), I've spent a great deal of my career studying Iran, their regional goals, and their proxies. I've been shot at by Huthi missiles before it was cool. I have no love whatsoever for the IRGC and specifically the IRGC-QF.

I like Rubio's statement that hopefully provided enough distance between us and Israel so Iran doesn't retaliate directly on US bases in the Middle East. The Shia population in Bahrain worries me, with our naval base there.

Just giving my thoughts since you asked.
