Mitch actually won games for us as QB. He was something like 7-0 as a starter.

My pick is Gary Brashears for Arkansas. He was ranked as one of the top QBs in his class and I don't know that he ever played a snap for us.

Go back and watch those games, Mitch did just about everything he could do to lose those games. Darren McFadden single handly won those games while our passing game was disgusting.

It led to Mitch who was 7-0 as a starter to get replaced.

Can't believe all of the Bama fans who went gaga over McElroy. He was a trash QB.

But he was like a walk on . He wasn't over rated. Tyler Watts was an over rated Bama QB.

This guy understands what overrated means. JPW wasn't good, but he was never highly rated.

For the record, Brodie Croyle is the most overrated qb ever to play at Bama. Not just overrated by fans, but by recruiting services as well.

Not including incoming freshmen who haven't played yet, Croyle is the highest rated QB and the 5th highest rated player in the history of Bama football, and he was a terrible passer and an even worse runner.

Shea Patterson is the only answer for Ole Miss. in the last thirty years at least.
Meh. He never played an entire season and had Matt Luke coaching him. He wasn't flat out horrible.

Trash QBs don't put up stats like this:

222-313 (70.9%) 2,987 yards 20 TDs 5 INTs

Was he the greatest or most talented QB Alabama has ever had? Certainly not. Not even close. But he certainly maxed out his potential as a 3-star athlete and left Tuscaloosa with a national championship ring.

Andrew hatch or Anthony Jennings

Andrew Hatch was a walk-on transfer from Harvard. He doesn't really fit the bill as being overrated as no one ever rated him highly. Brandon Harris is your answer here. Guy was a top 100 prospecy that was supposed to be awesome and was flat out terrible. Josh Booty would be a decent candidate as well. Consensus #1 player in the country (ahead of Peyton Manning) out of high school, and despite the fact he took a hiatus playing pro baseball, he certainly did not live up to the reputation he had.

But Houston Nutt? Patterson was a 5 star that had Longo coaching him. He was a bust.

Very controversial but Jalen Hurts. In 2016 and 2017, Bama's passing game was non-existent against good defenses. Bama was well on its way to its own version of 21-0 if Tua doesnt come in against Georgia and Jalen's legacy at Bama would be very different

Jalen Hurts Passing Numbers Against Ranked Teams As Bama's Starter (Plus USC)

2016 USC: 6/11 118 yards 2tds 1int
2016 Ole Miss: 19/31 158 yards 0tds 0int
2016 Arkansas: 13/17 253 2tds 1int
2016 Tennessee: 17/27 172 yards 1td 1int
2016 Texas AM: 15/25 164 yards 2td 2int
2016 LSU: 10/19 107 yards 0td 1int
2016 Auburn: 27/36 286 yards 2tds 2ints
2016 Florida: 11/20 138yards 1td 0int
2016 Washington: 7/14 57 yards 0td 0int
2016 Clemson: 13/31 131 yards 1td 0int

2017 Florida State 10/18 96 yards 1td 0int
2017 LSU 11/24 183 yards 1td 0int
2017 MSU 10/19 242 yards 1td 0int
2017 Auburn 12/22 112 yards 1td 0int
2017 Clemson 16/24 120 yards 2td 0int
2017 Georgia 3/8 21 yards 0td 0int

Totals in these 16 Games: 200/359 (55% completion) 2358 yards (147 yards per start) 17 touchdowns and 8 interceptions

Well you almost had the correct answer.

Now let's take a look at the reason Hurts started as a true freshman, then we get the real answer.

Blake Barnett.

He ended up drafted and in the NFL. He might could have done more...if our OL wasn't so damn terrible.

In before Auburn fan with "Honk if you sacked Brodie".

Not sure about anyone going gaga over him, but he won our first national championship since 1992 and we were a power running team. He was smart and had a lot of heart.

Not sure what the complaint is.

Kid was the greatest Texas high school football player ever. Aggie legacy. 5 star. Hype through the roof. And when he got here he was pretty not great. Most of the blame goes on Sumlin & his coaches, but he was highly rated and sucked here so it fits.

John Parker Wilson? No he wasn't.

He took a grayshirt bc he came from a rich family and grew up a Bama fan, but he was a mid-tier 3* with other SEC and P5 offers. He was probably a top 10-15 rated player in Alabama his class. Tennessee and Clemson were the other 2 main teams in his recruitment iirc, but he was always a Bama kid

Just a different form of overrated. Blake Barnett fits into the Jeremy Johnson category as someone that was hyped before they ever really proved anything. Other guys can be overrated after their college career is over

Kyler Murray.

Just because he won a Heisman at Oklahoma doesn't mean he wasn't overrated as frick when he played at A&M.
