FTA is the ultimate unethical basketball player, but it is highly effective.

Good win. They finally decided they wanted to be there.
There will inevitably be people who criticize that statement, and that is a damning indictment of our society. What used to be anonymous internet trolls are now real people who are paid money to publicize their opinions. They aren't serious people, but they get to guide our national discourse because loud and stupid is what generates engagement.

Nobody old is smoking alot of pot. The general concensus is drug use declines after the age of 35.

What does that have to do with the fact that plenty of stoners live long, happy lives and alcoholics are doomed to an early grave and all kinds of awful health problems?

Also, Willie Nelson and Tommy Chong are very much alive.
It's honestly wild that if one of the two is going to be illegal in any way it's weed. Heavy drinkers usually either get sober or die young. There are tons of old hippies. From a public health standpoint alcohol is exponentially worse. Not even remotely close.

licensed attorney, but didn't go the traditional ambulance chaser route...thank God.

You mean seeing Shunnarah's shite eating grin all up and down the highway, with the implication being "if that semi in the next lane veers into you and puts you in a wheelchair, it'd make my fricking day if you remember this advertisement", doesn't give you a warm, fuzzy feeling of pride in our profession?

Yes, not to he confused with Mike "Alabama Hammer" Slocum, who is still hunting those big bucks

A modern spin on the ambulance chaser trope. Honestly it's kind of amusing, as a joke. Actually making that your "thing" that makes you stand out in the crowd of billboard and TV commercial lawyers is certainly...a choice.
He did indeed. It isn't accredited, so you cannot sit for the bar exam anywhere besides Alabama. Most of those places are total scams with bar passage rates in like the 20s or 30s after charging you $125,000 for 3 years of classes.
Right? Even back in my day the guys selling as a business were making probably like 10-15% of his NIL take. Enough that they had an apartment, a car, food in the fridge, some nice electronics, etc., but you're not living like Scarface selling weed 1/4 ounce at a time unless you own a chain of successful dispensaries in the Denver metro area.

Out of curiosity I had to check out the tax stamp info:

Failing to affix a tax stamp on controlled substances—often referred to as a "drug tax stamp violation"—is a legal requirement in several U.S. states where a tax is imposed on illegal drugs

Im not smart enough to understand this.... How would you qualify for a tax stamp for something illegal?

You wouldn't. It's just another thing for them to charge you with. It has a separate element from just possession too, so I doubt it would even merge for sentencing. I mean on the one hand I don't think this should be a crime in the first place because I don't see how it's any different than buying a keg and charging people $5 for a cup at the door, but at the same time I don't really sympathize with him because with his income he has absolutely no need to engage in black market commerce.

If the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force operates like every other regional drug task force then this is 100% what happened. It's how they operate. Flip someone in jail, get them to make a buy, get a warrant.

It's fricking weed too and he has NIL. Total fricking moron. His side business probably supplemented his income by a couple thousand a month.
That'll happen when your entire portal class is absolutely worthless.
Nepo Pearl on the hot seat or can they even afford to fire him?
Agreed on the coaching philosophy. It sometimes feels like Nate is content to sit back and wait on another defensive savant like Herb to come along and make shite happen on that end purely on instinct. That's just not a realistic strategy though. There's not a lot of guys like that out there. Almost none in college ball. Even in the NBA a lot of the guys who are considered elite defenders are more or less just goons like Dort. If you want to play defense aggressively you have to make it a point of emphasis to coach the team to be play defense aggressively. Hiring guys with primarily professional coaching backgrounds is never going to accomplish that unless you get really lucky and fall arse backwards into a young Thibs.

I think he was banged up some, but he was another guy like Jaden Bradley who wasn't quite ready to play effectively in a system predicated on quick reads and spacing as a freshman. He never looked particularly comfortable. The shot wasn't there yet and neither were the instincts. Reid will probably be a really good, well rounded player as an upperclassman just like Bradley though. He's very talented. Guys like that who were very heavily recruited but end up needing time are almost destined to hit the portal now unfortunately. I think Allen is a lot more versatile and his game is a better fit for us though, so it worked out for the best.

Same with Reid. But i think Amari Allen is a better version of Reid. He must have been scared of PT, in my opinion.

My understanding of that whole situation is that Reid's mother is an absolute nightmare to deal with and Oats refused to make any of the guarantees she was after. We were never her preferred destination so when his freshman season was a bit of a letdown it was not well received. Allen is a better player in basically every respect other than athleticism though. Anyone who wouldn't make that trade again is crazy.

LSU/Kentucky. LSU can't fire their coach for another day if they win and the Kentucky melt if they don't pull this out will be amazing. $22 million.

The "Why The frick Did They Hire That Guy?" Invitational
No kidding. I don't even think he should be punished, much less suspended. It's fricking 2026.
Is it technically a miss when all he really cares about is money?
If Todd Golden got that close to that many co-eds he'd have like 18 restraining orders against him before the tournament starts.

Did Philon improve his draft stock by coming back?

Significantly. His two big question marks were whether he could carry the load on offense and develop a reliable outside shot, both of which he has answered in a big way.
