Sure, if you're comfortable hanging around the top 25 every year with no real chance to compete for an NC, he's not truly bad. But unless he changes his philosophy (i.e., slap bunt and steal, eke out a few runs, and try to beat opponents with pitching and defense), we'll never win another NC in this era of college softball.
Well, yeah. It's a non-revenue sport though. My point is that from a practical standpoint it's a tough call for an AD to fire the coach of a non-revenue sport who fields a competitive team even if it's not very good. I mean it was hard enough for UGA and LSU to fire Richt and Miles and they were in charge of football.
Aside from the FOGiest of FOGs, fans are going to want to compete for championships in everything, so I would certainly like to see a change made sooner than later. ADs just need their non-revenue sports to be better than a source of embarrassment though. I don't think Murphy is safe forever, but he has at least this year and next even if the bottom falls out, which really feels like an inevitability at this point. If you can't hit, you can't win unless you have an All-American ace and very reliable #2 starter to carry you to a bunch of 3-2 and 2-0 wins.

Murph is such a shitty coach.
He's not though. That's the problem. He's like the Les Miles or Mark Richt of softball. A once good coach who has been left behind by the game and surpassed by many of his peers, but still isn't truly bad.

I am something of a Boobie Feaster myself.

Hiring Matt Patricia to coach players who can quit pretty much whenever they want without penalty is a bold move. He is pretty widely recognized as one of the biggest pieces of shite to ever coach in the NFL.

LSU gave up a 13-0 run over the final 2 minutes and change against OM and lost by 2. I think that's somehow even worse. You almost have to be trying to give up 13 points in 2-3 minutes when you have a multi-possession lead. Much less a double digit lead.
Then of course there is what Wake did last night. I don't see how the guy who shot that rushed logo 3 with 8 seconds left and only down by 1 can come back to the team today. Just pack your locker up and leave.
The fun part about being good is that you know you're going to bounce back from those kind of kick in the balls losses.

What’s Alabama like in the paint?
We have the 2nd best 2pt offense in the country and 99% of them are taken in the paint. Obviously we go about it a lot differently than most teams do though.
Our 2pt defense is OK, not great.

They have poor guard play and only one legitimate scorer, but tend to fight and claw their way to staying in games. You have to have steady guard play to win tight games though. It's not optional.

The end of that Wake FSU game was the kind of shite we used to do. And a lot of you morons wanted to hire Steve Forbes. Don't bother checking my post history on that. Just know that I predicted it would not be good.
re: Do we need to start assessing forfeits for teams whose fans storm the field or court?

Yes, if the goal is actually to stop it from happening. If rushing the field meant the win is literally overturned, it would never happen again.
I don't think the conference actually cares though. It just has to look like it doesn't condone it for liability purposes.

No idea. They have narrowly escaped against the only two teams in the conference already out of tournament contention.

Now imagine his reaction when he finds out that all of CBB has a collective .500 record. It's truly anyone's year with that kind of parity.

What has bitten us this season is the trend where we get a semi comfortable lead in the second half and then relax on the defensive end. Happened again last night, even though we extended the lead because our offensive efficiency was ridiculous.
We like to play with our food once we figure out how to attack the defense being thrown at us and know we can just trade baskets for 10 minutes if we want to.

Mike White is just premium brand Avery Johnson. He manages to win a couple more OOC games every year to put his team on the right side of the bubble, but the February collapses happen like clockwork.

Not sure if it’s a long term ankle injury or a Broome injury.
I wish "a Johni Broome injury" would enter the CBB lexicon as a way of saying an injury the player overtly sells as significant but was actually just a little booboo. Like a toddler does.

He also conveniently ignores that his team couldn't keep the best coach they'd had in like 25 years and replaced him by overpaying a coach entering semi-retirement despite playing in a venue he probably views as second only to MSG.

Dyke can't help but to keep pumping up the idea of another college poaching Oats. Sorry, no one wants your Calipari numb nuts.
It's a bizarre obsession that he talks about as if it's practically an inevitability despite Nate having like a $20 million buyout, the school's demonstrated willingness to pay him in accordance with his success, and him literally turning down more prestigious jobs. I mean yeah he might leave, but I don't think it'll be for another college job or until his kids are done living at home.

Texas is also probably like a 10/11 seed right now, so just barely in as an at-large. Beating us would give them a little breathing room. It's a huge game for them.

O/U 11.5 mentions of our narrow escape against Arkansas?
O/U 11.5 mentions of Texas losing at home to Arkansas?
O/U 4.5 mentions of Arkansas or Arkansas players unrelated to either Texas or Alabama's recent games against them?

I wish we’d make the SEC tournament end on Saturday but TV dollars say that isn’t happening.
TV money is such a double edged sword. It's awesome to be able to watch all but like the buy-iest of buy games on TV now, but holy frick the scheduling is a disaster in every way imaginable.
