I don't think struggle is the right word. It's just a tactical difference in opinion. He simply doesn't believe in using timeouts to slow down a run. I disagree with him on that, but it's a small thing to complain about relative to the big picture.

I agree with you. I'm not saying we should abandon prep recruiting in favor of the portal, just that I wish we could go after more guys with established track records of production in major conference basketball. Generally our portal moves are high production mid-major guys or low production major conference guys with upside.

I'll be honest, I barely pay attention to basketball recruiting anymore as far as high school kids go. I assume Nate will sign good players and the best ones will be here 1-2 years. Our NIL deficiencies don't affect that as much because those kids still have the NBA dream and our system is among the best in the country for letting them show what they can do in an NBA style system. I just wish we'd give him more money to work with in the portal. That's where you're going to build a title winner these days.

I question Sark’s QB evaluation a bit to be honest, so I don't know if I would assign 100% of the blame for the Arch situation to Texas boosters. If he tells them this kid would be a low tier P4 or G5 recruit if his last name was Smith they aren't going to roll out the red carpet and throw a bank at him. I will say that being unable to bench him is probably 100% outside pressure though.

He's not wrong, but what can be done about it at this point? We don't have programs like Rutgers, Purdue, Maryland, Virginia, Syracuse, Minnesota, etc. that are just never ever going to spend big money on their football rosters. You can't stack any SEC team's schedule with a bunch of layups, much less giving multiple teams schedules like that. It's all Sankey's fault.

Enforcing good shot selection is probably the thing he's best at as a coach, so if questionable shot selection is a player's big weak spot there probably isn't a coach in America who can fix it if Oats can't.

If he takes a couple of step back 3s early in the shot clock without even trying to pass the ball in a game that counts Oats will sit him down just like he does with every other young player who does it until the habit is broken.
