The NFL teams are not in the business of giving away more money than they have to or the pick warrants. If they do, it undermines their future bargaining power. It's a business; it ain't free money.

And BTW...the only guaranteed $ will be his signing bonus.

I've been searching for details online and haven't found any. Is that guaranteed money even if he doesn't make the team? Where did you see that? I saw one online source...without quoting a reliable source...that suggested his signing bonus would likely be around $70,000.

I was replying to 1ManWolfPack, who posted about Savion Smith, not Mack. He said that at least Savion could go back to school. I replied that Savion would have to pay his own way now.

Carlton replied to me assuming that I was talking about Mack. I wasn't.

I doubt seriously that Savion got any signing bonus money and may get some minimal amount through tryouts, but likely won't get anything substantial unless he makes the team.

I don't think Savion makes a 53 man roster but I can see him making a practice squad which is nothing to sneeze at.

quote:

Practice Squad Salary. Practice squad players earn paychecks on a weekly basis. They're not getting the far bigger paychecks players on the 53-man roster receive. For the 2018 season, practice squad players can make no less than $7,600 per week, which equates to $129,200 for the season.

Of course you have to keep your head on straight and compete to not get cut from the practice squad as well.

Mack Wilson bet on himself...I cant blame a kid for doing that when trying to fulfill a dream

Regardless, he landed in a good spot. He gets a great DC in Wilks. He'll sit behind two good LB's in Kirksey and Schobert.

Schobert is a FA after this year too.

Mack with a year of coaching could very well be starting in 2020 for the Browns

Dont know if true and its none of my business but people on twitter are saying Mack fell because Supposedly he is gay.

Thats none of my business but thats a pretty fricked up reason not to draft someone.

I’m not being a jerk but honestly if he hasn’t picked up the defense in 3 years do you think one more would have been the answer.

It's a business. That stuff is a major distraction for an NFL team. Players, staff and owners will have to drag that media ball and chain, every single day.

I don't blame teams one bit for choosing another investment.

FYI, I don't care about sexual orientation, but it's a business.

I may by mistaken but I think he posts pics of his girlfriend on Twitter a lot. I unfollowed him a while back so I could be thinking of another player.

But being gay didn't affect one former player's draft status.

Agreed. After the Michael Sam circus, I wouldn't touch it.

One year made a huge difference in the effectiveness of Reuben Foster.

This sounds like total bullshite to me. How can anyone on twitter or really anyone anywhere even remotely know such a thing? They couldn't, so it's just people throwing their own agenda on an event - seems to be extremely popular these days.

But the reality is he was advised to come back for a reason and had multiple red flags that have nothing to do with his sexuality.

As Saban would say - you don't practice until you get it, you practice until you can't get it wrong.

He got it wrong many times last year. In what world does more experience not improve that?

Reuben is just an overall much better player than Mack. Reuben's second to last year was so much better than Mack's last season.

Yeah I unfollowed him a while back also. Like you said he does post a lot of pictures with the girl. I call bullshite on the gay thing.

He fell because he sucks at plugging holes in run D. Not because he plugs the wrong holes off the field
