Georgia and Texas are at the top. I feel programs 3-9 are all equal and time will tell who emerges from this group.

I don’t hate Kiffin but he’s probably up there. Ryan Day, probably Dabo too.

Dabo would've preached a sermon at the player's bedside.

Kevin Warren isn't the one that makes that decision, university presidents do

And, Warren has been the Chicago Bears President for around a year now.

Miami is an AAU member and they have the right people there.

BB's hiring as I said when he was hired is about them investing big money into their football program and them moving to another conference. BB's hire is in my opinion is about more of the business of football rather than on field results. BB will get their football money up, get them to another conference, and he will install an administrative model for their football program for the future.

Dude is almost 60 years old

Age is no longer a knock against college coaches because of NIL and the portal.

I think Julio was more of a physical freak (which is crazy because Smith is freaky, too) but Smith plays the position better than Julio did at the same age. I think if you drew a line between Larry Fitz and Julio, Smith would fall somewhere along it.

Nail on the head analysis right here.

Apparently the Ryans are close with the Lynn family

I can believe it. I now think D'Anton is the DC Saban wanted to hire but he wouldn't take the job b/c Saban wouldn't guarantee that he'd stay for an extended amount of time. I know Saban tried to bring Doug Belk back as DB coach.

Hasn't recruited in years. Has no network. You can't pay the players if you don't know who they are or where they are.

USC just hired one of the best recruiters on the West Coast Chad Savage last week plus the defensive staff is chock full of young stud coaches. It's not like Rob has to find his own recruits and no one can help him. Finding recruits isn't hard. You act like a high school coach is going to turn his nose up at Buddy Ryan's son coming to recruit one of his players
College coaching is pro coaching now. Money and free agency.

I'm beating this drum once more. B10 coaching has propelled the conference to the fore of the sport.
So, what really has changed? Athletic scholarships were renewed on an annual basis before the portal and NIL and that remains the case now. The only thing that's changed is the players have the power the coaches used to have.

All the NCAA had to do was label the players employees, allow schools to pay players and we would have avoided collectives, avoided all out free agency with non-competes, and retained some sense of stability.

However, because the NCAA represents so many damned institutions and only a few can actually make money on sports they had to move in the direction the majority of their constituents wanted

I agree with you. But, I think most of the major universities don't want athletes to be employees either.
This is strategy to make college athletes into university employees. That way there’s no Title IX implications.
Milroe would be better served had he transferred to UNLV and was tutored by Dan Mullen. Milroe is not a QB and the NFL isn't for teaching.

Good defense that was superbly coached that got better every week.

NIL contracts have no buyouts. Mizzou just took what they wanted off your roster and y'all couldn't afford it.

Jimmy Lake’s expertise is recruiting and developing DBs at the college level.

He was a hell of a DC too at Washington.
