Saivion is only the 2nd underclassmen to go undrafted under Saban at Bama.

At least Adrian Hubbard got his degree...

I think SS was told its in his best interest to leave.. we have tons of depth now at CB, and he wouldn't smell the field. He would have done better transferring though than declaring.

Good to great Will LB when he doesn’t have to think much. Total slaw when he was the Mike. Red lamp slaw at the old BBQ place.
Bingo!...his coverage could've been better, too.

there was a few games he over ran the plays and I assume it was his man out of the back field on numerous plays that was not being picked up?

Yeah...if he wants to pay tuition. No more scholarship money.

He is projected to get a $300,000 signing bonus before tax. In state tuition is 10k and OOS tuition is 30k so hopefully he puts that to the side and doesn't piss it away. Put that signing bonus away and let it earn for you until you need it my man.

Mack has NFL talent though so hopefully the Browns are a good fit. As crazy as he drove me at times I hope he figures it out and has a successful career.

I didn't find anything on him having kids.

Has this article been posted about Mack? He got some bad advice.

There’s more than meets the eye to Alabama LB Wilson's NFL draft decision

I found this section interesting.

quote:

Dowell, a well-known mentor in the Montgomery area who took Wilson in as a ward when he was 13, said he and Saban spoke on the phone Jan. 12, the day before Wilson was set to finalize his decision.

After Saban made his case for Wilson’s return to Alabama, citing his lack of maturity and potential for further growth within the Tide’s highly structured environment, Dowell countered with a question: “You’ve had him three years. What are you going to do in a year that you haven’t done in three?”

Dowell said Saban fell silent.

“He couldn’t answer,” Dowell recalled.

In a last-ditch effort, Saban suggested he’d fly to Montgomery that Sunday for a face-to-face meeting with Wilson and his family.

“I was like, ‘There’s no need, there’s no need for that,’” Dowell said.

A day later, after first mustering the courage to tell Saban of his decision, Wilson announced he was turning pro in a social media post, becoming the record-seventh Alabama underclassman to formerly declare for the 2019 NFL draft.

“Saban called and called, and I was like, ‘'Mack,' you’ve got to tell him,’” Dowell recalled. “'Mack' finally said, ‘Coach, I’m going to declare,’ and (Saban) was like, ‘You sure, 'Mack'?’ He said, ‘Mack, do you have all the facts?’ And 'Mack' was like, ‘Yes sir.’ That was the hardest part.”

I hope Mack has thanked Dowell for the stellar career advice Dowell gave him.

I’ll never forget. During the football banquet, John Hannah was up talking, accepting some award. Mack Wilson went live on Instagram with the camera aimed at himself. He was basically making a mockery of the whole ceremony. He stayed live for 30 minutes or so. He was a junior and supposedly was the leader of our defense and he’s acting this way in a banquet held in their honor.

If three years under Saban doesn’t get you behaving any better than that then I don’t know if one more year would have made a difference in his maturity either. Regardless, he would have been drafted higher and made a lot more money though.

I think signing bonuses for a 5th round is like $175K on average. The bonus is the only guaranteed part. IF he makes the squad, he should do pretty well but nothing is guaranteed. He has to make the squad and not get cut in training camp. If he gets cut, he gets nothing other than his bonus. I have to believe they will sign him barring injury as the Browns seem to be pretty high on him.

I think he left a lot of money on the table as he could have gone much, much higher and another year would have helped. Plus, he could have finished his degree and got that paid for. If he makes the squad and can get to that second contract, he should do well.

Pretty sure I read something recently that Alabama will still let people who declare early come back and get their degree.

I figure it's just tuition costs and nothing more.

Signing bonus last year for his slot (pick 155) was $284,500. Mack should get a little more than that. After Uncle Sam gets his cut it will be around $175k in real money.

There is no doubt he should have stayed though imo. I believe if you aren't a top 50 pick (somewhere between 2.5M-3M signing bonuses) you should take your chances playing another year of college ball unless you have some special circumstances. Not my body or life but I believe the risk is work it.

The league rookie minimum is $480K but I have to believe if he balls out in camp, the Browns will give him a solid contract. With his bonus, he will probably make in excess of $1MM this year which is pretty damn good money although he could have done much better.....but again, he is rolling the dice as its going to depend on his performance in camp and not getting injured.

Spotrac does rookie salary estimates and updates them when the real contract is signed with the actual number. LINK They are usual pretty good. They estimate him at 2.8 Million over 4 years plus his bonus.

He will have to play consistently well for 4 years before getting a shot at his 2nd contract. 2nd contracts are the "money" contracts and NFL owners wait as long as possible to sign those.

See: Marcus Mariota still being on his rookie contract...
