On one hand, I'm glad Booker can get extra practice time in. We need good OL ASAP.

I think you got your years mixed up. The 2020 o-line won the Joe Moore Award and helped Alabama win the national championship. It was our last great o-line. Leatherwood, Ekiyor, Dickerson, Brown, and Neal.
We'd be a shoo-in for the natty this year if we had that o-line.

Was that gif from the same moment when Gary Danielson was saying "I love it."? He quickly clarified the statement by saying Mettenberger was a warrior or some such, but I remember in the moment thinking "That's a weird thing for a commentator to say when a guy is crawling on the field."

That's one of my concerns. We've gone for it on 4th down near midfield several times this season. Our defense has improved enough that we should be willing to punt and pin teams deep.
We don't need to give Oklahoma any easy field-position wins, especially early in the game.

I get frustrated by the officials during a game, but in general I truly believe calls even out overall. Don't attribute to conspiracy what can be explained by incompetence, or just plain human error.
I DO think there have been instances when officials exercise a bias, either consciously or not, against a team. Three occasions of this spring to mind:
1. The period of 2008 - 2016 (or whatever it was) when Alabama's opponents just did not get called for offensive holding. There was a cluster chart done by someone (a Michigan fan, I think) that showed roughly 80% of teams within one or two standard deviations from the norm for holding calls against their opponents. Alabama was waaay out in the top right corner, all by itself. Our opponents somehow never held even though we had some of the best defensive lineman and linebackers in our program's history during that time.
2. The 2022 Tennessee game. Just blatant disregard of the rules by the officials.
3. The first half of the 2025 season for Auburn. I don't like them, and I enjoy seeing them lose, but man ... they did something to anger the football gods this year. Multiple bad calls or no-calls that negatively impact them.
The whining of Tennessee fans about officiating in Saturday's game is sad. Your team got beat, just like FSU beat Alabama. Tip your hat and move on.

I think Missouri's gaudy third-down conversion percentage is a combination of two things:
1) They've got a great rushing attack, so their third-down yardage is usually a pretty small requirement;
2) They've played almost no one with a pulse.
If they convert 60% of their third downs against us, we'll lose -- unless our offense has another Georgia-type game and/or we get some turnovers.
I expect them to convert about 40% of their third downs. More than we'd want, but not insurmountable. If we can grind out 6+ minute drives for touchdowns we'll be in good shape.
If they convert 50% or more of their third downs, we'll either lose or be in a dogfight to the end.

Didn't we run a tackle-eligible play against LSU in overtime in the past 10 years or so? Maybe it was a tight end lined up as a tackle. I just remember a huge lineman-type guy catching a pass over the middle and taking it to the one-yard line.
According to an Auburn poster (GoCrazyAuburn), Chicken provided notice a year ago the multi-year mega threads would go away. Did we get the notice and then forget the effective date or something?

It also doesn't explain why Texas A&M (for example) has a thread that's now more than 10 years old on their board.

As I understand it, having a year-long recruiting or news thread is fine -- it's when the threads span multiple seasons or years that it becomes a problem.

You're making my point for me. We had pinned threads for football and basketball recruiting, but they got killed. Our mods built new threads over the past few days, but a lot of content from the old threads was lost.
We also had a mega thread for the 2025 football season, but it was killed. Texas A&M, for example, still has a pinned mega thread for the 2025 football season. This seems to be an arbitrary approach to overall site moderation.
Chicken, I appreciate you explaining your rationale. As a long-time board member, I appreciated the mega threads -- they were a quick place to check throughout the day for new content. I understand the desire to make the board appear more active to new visitors by forcing the creation of multiple threads, but it also has created confusion and frustration for loyal site visitors.
Please don't make the mistake of trying to appeal to new customers by upsetting your long-term client base. Cracker Barrel did that, and it didn't work out very well for them. At the very least, communicate your plans and intent ahead of time so we can be prepared.
