Again. - Because Trump is now an elected public official and his public pronouncements are being monetized by Truth Social. Trump owns Truth Social and he uses Truth Social as his platform for addressing the public. He now charges money for exclusive access to his pronouncements, policy decisions, opinions, views whatever it is....why should I have to pay for premium access to that when he is a sitting public official and his duty is to serve the public....the people of the United States. He should be providing that to all the people regardless....that is his duty as he is now a public servant....not those who pay him. Its an indirect form of paying for access.
The mechanics of the platform and this pricing tier is irrelevant to the discussion. It doesn't matter if Twitter or Google do the same thing. This is rife with conflict of interest. it's unprecedented but what should have happened is Trump should have been forced to divest his interests from Truth Social when he became President. It's fine for Truth Social to operate as a profit maximizing firm but Trump shouldn't be making a financial gain of it while he is the sitting President.
