With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC this year, has the Iron Bowl taken a backseat as the conference's second best rivalry?

Bama vs Auburn is #1 by far. Especially since it's the last game. Just take last year the gravedigger

just because OU and Texas will be in the SEC doesn't make that rivalry an "SEC rivalry." That game, which is fantastic, comes from a long history in the old Southwest Conference and then the Big-12. It ain't an SEC rivalry.

Actually the vast majority of that series has been played with the teams in different conferences (Big 8/SWC).

I think we should agree all of these are good games between honorable schools For the sake of the students we should strive to be respectful to one another to set a good example.

the georgia/florida rules make the most sense. during the game you can scream as many obscenities as you want but at the tailgate before and the bars after be civil

Texas ain't shite, so how could they even be in consideration. Plus, they suck.

Auburn sucks worse

No matter what they do, that game will always be "the old SWC/Big12 rivalry game."

It’s not better than LSU vs Bama either.

They lost all credibility when they changed it from the Red River Shootout to the “Showdown” (Gheeeey) to the “Rivalry”. Real rivalries don’t succumb to the mob.

Even if they still called it the Red River Shootout, it wouldn't come close.

For this season Aggies vs. longhorns is biggest game due to 12 year hiatus. Not biggest game every year but fully expect by game week it will cost $1000 to buy a ticket.

I don’t think that the RRR can surpass the Iron Bowl.

The quality of the athletic performances of the players from OU or UT is just not the equivalent of an LSU or Alabama player.

UT is about to own LSU for several years

I’m sure UT thinks they are going to own the whole SEC until yall get hit in the mouth. Y’all aren’t doing shite in this conference. Hell y’all rarely ever won the little 12 conference lololol

No way. The Iron Bowl isn't the best rivalry in the SEC its the best in the country. It's one game where you can "literally" throw out the records.

Iron Bowl isn't top in the country. It probably is in your neck of the woods though.

And his neck of the woods is at his brothers house on a date with his brother.

There’s no way a game that kicks off at 11am will ever get as intense as a similar game at 6-7pm.

I’ve been to UM-OSU at noon and you simply don’t end up with the same atmosphere even with similar stakes because the tension doesn’t have a chance to build all day and the crowd doesn’t get a chance to tailgate and drink meaning they don’t get nearly as loud.

There is a huge difference between a noon kick, a 330 kick and a 6pm kick and it’s apparent to anyone who has been to lots of big games.

Alabama vs. LSU, Alabama vs. Tenn and Alabama vs. Auburn are all better than Texas/OU. frick these newcomers. Get bent and know your role.

Alabama/LSU and Alabama/Tennessee don’t come near the Red River Rivalry. Not saying they aren’t heated rivalries but objectively not close.

The RRR hasn't determined anything in several years. Ergo, no one cares about it.

Those 2 may not come close when TX and OU were in their previous conference, but as an SEC rival, TX/OU is just the game being played that week in my opinion. It’ll still be big to fans of those 2 schools, but it’ll be a while before a majority of the SEC make it that way and it still won’t be at the top.
