re: I wonder what Saban thought of LSU tonight from his press box suite watching the game

He was there. I think he has missed 2 games this year and that was because they were early kicks. After Gameday he gets back to Ttown ASAP.
He said he is able to watch the Bama games on the plane.

As bad as our run game is you can have him. This game should have been over at halftime. He can not construct even an average run game. The difference this year is we don't have Milroe handing the ball to the other team 4 times a game. I've never seen a Bama run game this bad.
re: Saban IS Taking Calls...but not to COACH
Posted by TouchdownTony on 11/7/25 at 12:16 pm to boxcarbarney
Just like I said who the perm opponents were gonna be I said this is exactly what is happening now. Nick has for years gave his opinion on guys. When he was coach at Bama he regularly got phone calls about individuals. The guy I get my info from plays golf with Nick, goes to his house in Ttown, went with Nick to visit Ryan Williams and his mom recently. Nick left because of the portal and NIL. period. He wants no part of organizing a team in any fashion. Not as a GM, which is more of a headache than being a coach, not as a president of ops, not as an AD, Nothing. If he wanted to coach he'd still be at the program he was at for almost 20 years. There is literally nothing that would entice him back to coaching these days.

I'm sure Greg Byrne has been informed that Saban will be leaving his job at Bama? I haven't seen any mention of it in news outlets or on the radio but I may just have missed it.
Trent Seaborn commits to Bama

Won a state title as an 8th grader and a couple more since.

It's turning into another solid class for this staff. While I know Griffin is from Georgia, I'm happy to see that DeBoer is starting to make in-state in-roads. It's looking like this could be another Top 3 class.
The in-state guys this year reminds me of 2008. Julio, Mark Barron, Dre Kirkpatrick, Marcell Darieus were in state and we got all of them. Alabama has a bumper crop this year and it was paramount to get the Bama kids. Another key was to put up a fence around Mobile. For years the Mobile kids were going to Auburn, LSU and Florida. AJ McCarron, Julio and Robert Lester made Mobile a Bama town again with a couple St Paul's guys on the hook this year as well.

Since 2008 Bama has dominated that part of the state. Once upon a time Bama had no chance to get kids out of Alex City. From Alex City over to Columbus GA down to Pensacola and over to Dothan was Auburn country. Not anymore. Deboer is doing a great job.

Fulmer can rot in hell. The sonofabitch had no respect for anyone. If he gets on the stand he will lie but this time it will be in a court house in Dekalb county Alabama and not in Knox county TN with a DA that is a Vols season ticket holder.
re: Does BYU even stand a chance against Alabama?
Posted by TouchdownTony on 3/27/25 at 5:52 pm to Return of the Puppet
“Alabama got 3 straight easy draws again. Byrne couldn't pay enough to get a 4th so they'll get run out of the gym against Duke, the first real power conference team they play. A lot like last season. BYU is a power conference team in name only. Don't even try to play defense a lot like oats. Gimmick ball.”
Does it even matter. Auburn has pretty much been crowned. I’m hoping we can save ourselves the embarrassment of losing to the fambly

Thankful that happened but it was unexcusable to finish that game that night. After an hour the SEC decide to finish that game with a giant hole in the roof and Bama players saying they were trying to play with a 20 mph wind in their face not to mention the players being shook and wondering about family members. It was awfully convenient to decide AFTER the Bama -State game that yea, we shouldn't be playing tonight and the next game was postponed. I will always believe that was total bullshite. If Gottfried had had any balls he wouldn't have took his team back on the court but he sucked so he did what we all thought he would do.
The NCAA tourney isn't about the best team but the hottest team going in
Posted by TouchdownTony on 3/16/25 at 2:25 pm
Right now the two hottest teams are Florida and St Johns. If Pitino wins it all he should be mentioned with Wooden. UConn won it all last year when in Jan they were pedestrian and got run by an average Providence team by 30. Going into the NCAAT they were the hottest team when I still don't believe they were the "best' team.
re: If Georgia loses are they out the playoffs?

UGA is in no matter if they lose 45-0.
re: The SECCG should rotate through every SEC state

It's fine where it is. If it's a problem for some fanbases travel wise then they can go back to a conference that was more travel friendly.

Too many teams are getting chopped up this year due to no divisions.
I don't know man. I got tired of the east champ having a cakewalk every year. I also didn't like the fact that a 3 or 4 loss team could win the SEC by beating an undefeated team.
re: Remember when Auburn booster paid Alabama player Gene Jelks to lie.
Posted by TouchdownTony on 11/22/24 at 1:14 pm to TheFourHorsemen
Ah yes, Corky Frost paid gene WELL to come public with that. Later on Too honest Terry Bowden reveals that Auburn was actually paying a group of people to dig up dirt on Bama.
Then years later Gene comes clean about the deal and wanted to be back in the Bama family again. Came to Ttown to help with Tornado relief in 2011 and nobody would even acknowledge him.

Yes, I remember. 180K is what it takes for a recruit to answer the phone now.
re: The NIL era
Posted by TouchdownTony on 11/21/24 at 6:42 pm to topcat88
The NIL era isn't going anywhere. There was a charge back in the spring where some coaches and even politicians were getting involved to head this off. They were told to shut up and stop whining. They did. What idiots didn't get was It was going to hurt EVERYONE, not just the Bama's and Georgia's of the world.
Nobody has picked up the baton and is leading a charge to regulate this and I don't blame them. Don't look for anybody to anytime soon. You think the SMU's, Texas, A&M's, Ohio States and Michigans of the world want regulation?

“Easier solution. Cancel the CCG. Go back to pre-92 and have co-champs and let the CFB committee sort it out in the rankings. It only hurts the conference at this point.”
This is the only solution.
This is the only solution.
re: LSU turns to gold jerseys in hopes of rallying past Vanderbilt
Posted by TouchdownTony on 11/18/24 at 5:18 pm to AHM21
LSU has turned into ole miss. I tune into the game now and expect a uniform other than what they used to wear. I’m expecting a purple helmet before the season is over.
Who are the schools now that have only one pair of pants and only a dark and white jersey? I mean no throwbacks, etc either but only changing to a white Jersey on the road.
I have USC, Bama, penn st, auburn?

“The South Carolina defender picked the most vulnerable player on the field and hit him when he wasn’t looking. It was stupid, and it cost the team. This is not the referees fault, this is just bad discipline and bad coaching.”
When the qb throws a pick he becomes a defensive player and is subjected to being blocked as such. If we’re gonna say you can’t block the qb then don’t allow the qb to make a tackle either. Write it in the rule book that followings turnover the qb is basically a non player.
