I'm genuinely shocked at the fanbase's negativity towards recruiting

Especially given how eternally optimistic Aggies generally are.
The Texags/247 meltdown over our 2018 class really blows my mind. As a lifelong glass half empty guy even I don't get it. The only explanation I can think of is everyone bought into the Liucci hype so much that this is a letdown.
Anyone who knows anything about recruiting and coaching changes knew this would happen, especially with ESD. It's a known and necessary consequence of changing coaches. I just don't understand the cries that this staff is a failure when they can't land guys who have had relationships with other coaches for years and they met weeks ago.

A lot of koolaid was drank those first few weeks, and coming down from that sugar high is a bitch.
Agree that we'll be fine in the long run, and the staff deserves until NSD before final judgments are made, but the last month has been a little disappointing, even with reasonable expectations.

It's always amazed me that so many fans have no clue how recruiting works. Yes BL feeds them hype and pumped sunshine and they eat it up. This year's cycle is a pass for the brand new staff. I do however expect a good class next year and a great class from then into the future. If Jimbo can change the perception and culture of the program then it will be worth the cost. The offensive player battles will be interesting seeing as TH runs the kind of O that the look at me skill guys like but Jimbo has had success with his O so we'll see.

I will be nervous if we don’t land a top5/10 class in 2019. But I’m fine with what our class looks like it will be this year considering the circumstances. We just can’t have a bunch of attrition from it

Aggyfan is a curious little beastie

I did class calculator with us keeping everyone we have and adding Waddle Charles Strong Glenn Beal Ogbonnia O Neal Andrew Parker and Vernon Jackson and that would put us at 14th last year and 16th the year before. I think that finish is fairly realistic.

I don't get it either..
These recruits have barely any relationship with the new staff. The new staff will run a different offense and defense. Perhaps these recruits don't fit as well, perhaps they aren't getting the promise of playing that Sumlin seemed to dole out.
I don't give a rip about this year. I suppose my expectation is for Jimbo to instill his brand and expectations into the current players and for him to find the future ones that will position him to win. I honestly hope he can recruit defensive players away from the state.

I'm not. We're not going to have a great class.
Jimbo is supposed to be the savior and everyone wants results now.
If he finishes with say Beal, ONeal, Jackson, ITS, & some low-level LB everyone will go nuts.

If I’m a season ticket holder I jump ship

Am I in the right place? Roger is being positive about something? No no,this can't be! Is this reverse psychology? Someone tell me the truth. I'm so confused now.

Deep down inside, Aggy wants to be a loser. It’s much easier to be stuck at the bottom and know it than to go through the emotional highs and lows on the way up towards success.

Ossai says hi. BAw indicated keeping Price was all we needed to do and once he met the rest of the staff he was out. Same for the others that are jumping ship. They met Jimbo and company and said yea nah I'd rather not.

I just think we really whiffed on defense this year. No DE's (I think Wright moves to DT), no linebackers, no Corners. That's gonna hurt us in a couple of seasons

We are changing to an entirely new offense that adds a Fullback and a Tight End and moving to a 4-2-5 defense.
Of course we are going to lose players! Add early NSD, and Jimbo isn't left with many options of pursuing impact players. Y'all frickers need to relax. Not many coaches can come in and close out a class of players he didn't recruit.

How bad is it?
Maybe Fran, Sherman, and Sumlin sucked all the optimism out of the fanbase with their sucking.

Wasn’t it last year tu’s worst class in the history of ratings when kissy boy came in? Now a year later he’s putting a decent class together.
Damn hard for Jimbo to come in, especially this year with an early signing day, and crush it out of the park. Anything top 20 is a good job and 15 or less is just icing. Let’s see how he does for 2019 and 2020 classes.

The problem with the fan base is not where our class ends up, it is where Texas’s class ends up. Like it or not they are the yardstick.

I'll wait it out. I've seen longer shots hit.
