His defensive value pronlbably makes him an upgrade but a rather marginal one when you factor in his woes at the plate. He could benefit from a change of scenery but hard to bet on a guy who has poor plate discipline

I just think calling him a virtual lock is a little much

The gap in peak WAR between him and Chuck Knoblach is half of the gap between Altuve and the average 2nd baseman
Hes sandwiched between Ben Zobrist and Marcus Siemen when it comes to 2nd baseman peak WAR
The only modern 2nd baseman in the HOF who would have less peak WAR than him is Jeff Kent
