Alabama Erupts In Second Half To Blow Out Kentucky In SEC Opener

No. 12 Alabama overcame a sloppy first half to roll past Kentucky 45-17 on Saturday afternoon in Lexington.

Kentucky jumped on the Crimson Tide early and carried a 17-13 lead into halftime after forcing three Alabama turnovers, including a pick-six on quarterback Keelon Russell.

But the second half was a completely different story.

Alabama took control after halftime, scoring 32 unanswered points while shutting out the Wildcats over the final two quarters. The Crimson Tide scored 18 points in the third quarter to turn the four-point halftime deficit into a 31-17 lead before adding two more touchdowns in the fourth.

Running back Daniel Hill helped lead the second-half surge, finishing with 104 rushing yards and a touchdown. Russell bounced back from his early mistakes to throw for 188 yards and a touchdown.

Alabama's defense also slammed the door, limiting Kentucky to just 209 total yards for the game and only 62 yards in the second half.

The 45-17 victory moves Alabama to 2-0 on the season and gives the Crimson Tide a convincing road win in their SEC opener.
