You guys, and I mean A&M, also don't really understand our league and the history of some of our schools. You entered in and became familiar with this whole thing when it was the gold standard. There was a long period before that where it was not. Alabama, and a large chunk of this league, will destroy ourselves and try our best to destroy everyone around us before we go simping off on bended knee. We've done it before and we'll do it again. Go read up on the 1990s and early 2000s of SEC football.

This league was built on telling bigger, richer, supposedly better schools and programs to go fvck themselves. We've been doing it to eachother, the B1G and the nation since Alabama went out to the Rose Bowl for the first time. If you think the University of fvckin Texas is going to walk in and all of sudden destroy 100 years of that sort of culture and attitude then you need to re-educate yourself on the league you are in.

Thos goes both ways. There is history on our side you don't understand either.

Has the SEC ever fallen apart in a blaze of dysfunctional finger pointing with members looking desperately for alternative conferences to jump to? No?

Our conferences have. Twice. Both in the last 30 years. And Texas was at the center of it both times.

The SEC is a bigger challenge and they won't dominate as much, but Texas doesn't need political power in Georgia or Florida. You may not realize it, but no SEC school has as much political pursuasion as Texas.

This isn't about football.

Your first conference was literally a conference of schools from state of Texas (plus Arkansas - who left at the onset of your self destruction). There is absolutely no comparison between the SWC of 1990 and the SEC of 2021. None, at all.

The second, the Big XII, was a marriage of convenience that was fighting with each other from the minute it was created.

We get that you hate them, and we get why. But trying to act as if our league, which quite literally only cares about itself over everything else and has for 100 years, is the same as either of those scenarios in any way is just ridiculous.

But LSU doesn’t have any real power. Just reference the 1000’s of threads crying about SEC offices, Tom Ritter (I love that man), REC and refs.

Or since the beginning of time really. They act like whatever shennanigans Texas has pulled hasn't ever been tried in the SEC.

I would love to be in the room when Alabama realizes it admitted godless, crypto-Californians -- who are richer than all other SEC teams combined -- into the SEC.

I do not think Alabama under stands the situation when Texas joins the conference. Saban is not going to be coach forever. Look it as a power situation or like a giant RISK game. Oklahoma is already in their orbit. They are like their best friend. They will do what ever Texas wants. That is one school right there. Arkansas was there second best friend back in the SWC days and now get to be their friend again. They will want to the best friend and do what Texas wants. That is two schools now. Texas A&M will see the writing on the wall and will be the best little brother again and will what Texas wants. That is three schools. Missouri is in the same situation as Texas A&M because they will be more dependent on Texas than Alabama. That makes in 4 schools now in their orbit. Just need 3 more to get half the conference. LSU always whining about Alabama running the conference. Texas will go them and said this is there chance to take down Alabama. Auburn is kind in the same boat is LSU. Texas will go to them and say this is your chance to take your big brother down. What about the Mississippi schools? Are sure they are tired of Alabama taking a lot of top talent out of their state. Texas will tried to use that. What about Tennessee? Texas will to them and saying are tired of being under Alabama? What about Florida? Texas will say we are the 2 big state schools that is in the AAU we should stick run the conference not Alabama.

I am not saying all this is going to happen. However, Texas is going to wheel and deal to gain control and they will have plenty of cards to play.

LOL 1/2 the University's student population are from Texas, California, the Northeast or Chicago. Our AD is from the West. Our President is from Texas. Our football coach is from West Virginia. Our basketball coach is from Wisconsin.

It ain't 1983 anymore.

Oh no! Not rich Texans! Whatever will we do with a University from Texas with a giant endowment that spends money like drunken sailors!

We aren’t being wimps - and aren’t trying to insult Bamafans. You seriously need to look up what Nebraska was leading up to the formation of the Big 12 and what they are now and ask yourself if it sounds familiar.

Also, please recognize that the racist letter sent to our former coach (Sumlin) that stirred the seeds of discontent after we had some success in the SEC was sent by a Texas alum.

We don’t want them here because we know who they are.

Again, comparing the current SEC to the hodgepodge combination of 2 leagues that was the Big XII is silly. Nebraska fell apart for 100 reasons - loss of partial qualifier scholarships, changing landscape of recruiting, hiring Bill Callahan, etc.

And to your point about knowing who Texas is - I don't think anybody here thinks Texas is awesome and virtuous. Part of what would be fun about them being here is they would absolutely cause vitriol and immediately become one of the most hated schools in the league within hours of joining.

Hell, I think there's a shot they'd be most hated.

The aggies that think the SEC could be taken down by Texas should be actively advocating to leave the conference, if you think its that weak.

Exactly.

The amount of insecurity in some of these threads is just baffling.

You realize it's less of a "they'll manage to do it" and more of a "the damage they'll do when they inevitably try," right?
