Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban weighed in on the potential expansion of the College Football Playoff to 24 teams during an appearance on *The Pat McAfee Show* on Friday.

Saban said he isn't against expanding the playoff but is concerned about the number of games college players would have to play under the proposed format.

"My only concern about the 24-team College Football Playoff is the amount of games these guys are playing," Saban said.

"I get a little concerned about how much is too much when it comes to how many games a college player plays. I think 16 would be a good compromise for the College Football Playoff."

Under a 24-team format, teams could potentially play as many as 18 or 19 games in a season to win a national championship.

The College Football Playoff is reportedly nearing an agreement to expand from 12 to 24 teams beginning with the 2027 season, although a deal has not been finalized.
