Has nothing to do with "wanting their own identity." They had every intention of acting just like UT and bullying the SEC with the power and money they add by bringing in the State of Texas market. If UT joins, they no longer have that power because the SEC doesn't need them anymore. You overplayed your hand Aggies.

LOL Just wait until there is a hit piece on Nick Saban in the Texas Monthy. You will then change your mind when it happens.
I was playing with a spreadsheet was for the fun of it and this is what I came up with for the pods and permanent rivals.

Pod A ---------- Rivals From Pod B - Rival Form Pod C ----- Rivals Form Pod D

Texas ---------- Texas A&M --------- Alabama -------------- Florida
Oklahoma ----- LSU ----------------- Tennessee ------------ Georgia
Arkansas ------ Ole Miss ----------- Kentucky -------------- Auburn
Missouri ------- Miss St ------------- Vanderbilt ------------- South Carolina

Pod B ---------- Rivals Form Pod A - Rivals Form Pod D ---- Rival Form Pod C

Texas A&M ------ Texas ------------- Georgia -------------- Tennessee
LSU ------------ Oklahoma ---------- Florida -------------- Alabama
Ole Miss ------- Arkansas ---------- Auburn --------------- Vanderbilt
Miss St -------- Missouri ---------- South Carolina ------- Kentucky

Pod C ---------- Rivals Form Pod D - Rivals Form Pod A Rivals From Pod B

Alabama -------- Auburn ------------ Texas ---------------- LSU
Tennessee ------ Florida ----------- Oklahoma ------------- Texas A&M
Kentucky ------- Georgia ----------- Arkansas ------------- Miss St
Vanderbilt ----- South Carolina ---- Missouri ------------- Ole Miss

Pod D ---------- Rival Form Pod C -- Rivals From Pod B ---- Rivals Form Pod A

Auburn --------- Alabama ----------- Ole Miss ------------- Arkansas

Actually you are wrong about that one. :)

The words of the song is as following.

I am an a-hole. I am an a-hole.

I am an a-hole from OU.

If Tennessee was better than Texas, it would have more people. You do not therefore UT in Texas and UTjr is Tennessee. 29,183,290 > 6,916,897. Texas > Tennessee. UT > UTjr.
Size matters. Tennessee has only 6,916,897 people, while the superior state Texas 29,183,290. Since Texas was magnificent in choosing the SEC to join, it is going to be now

Texas is UT
Tennessee is now UTjr

You have no clue about college football, and are too ignorant of history to remain among decent people. There is but one UT. They were UT when Texas was Mexico.

LOL Texas had 29,183,290 people, while Tennessee has only 6,916,897 people. That is over 4 times as many people. The bigger state wins.

UT is Tennessee

UT=Tennessee UTjr=Texas

LOL T is for Texas.
It is now going to be UT and UTenn
Better get use to it.

Texas has 29,183,290 people.
Tennessee has 6,916,897 people.
It going to be call Texas and it's lucky redneck neighbors who are fortunate to near such a great state.

Texas won't be able to hold the SEC hostage, like they do the Big XII. But, adding them will completely change the dynamic in the league. Ironically, one thing that it will do is end A&M's go along, get along approach since joining the league. How? In little ways, that will only be apparent over time. Start with Sankey. He welched on Slive's committment that A&M would be the only Texas school in the SEC, and knowing how A&M would react, he kept A&M out of the loop on this deal. A&M won't forget. Commissioners have to make tough choices that alienate the members, and Sankey has made an enemy that will look for opportunities to put him on the spot and undermine his position. Then there are things like championship game locations. Texas isn't going to waltz in and tell the SEC that we're going to play the football championship at JerryWorld every other year. But, when the topic of championship games comes up--maybe starting with something lower key, like baseball or basketball, you can bet that Texas, OU, and A&M (ironically enough) will start chipping away at the coalitions that keep these games in their current locations. You don't come in an loudly make demands--you just start picking them off one at a time. In an every man for himself world, you'll see some strange coalitions on these issues. No more collegiality.

Listen to the man. This is going to happen. One point I want to make is with addition the states of Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri the SEC is not the old SEC anymore it is something different. The population of the states of the old SEC is 64.5 million and the population of the new states is 39.3 million. The increase is 61%. That is a huge increase. This more like a merger that just add a few schools. The old schools have to make room for the new schools. It just makes sense.

Flagrant penalty for spelling out Tennessee and not Texas. Texas is either TU or UTw. Tennessee is UT.

LOL T is for Texas. It is going to be UT and Tenn for now on. Texas has a population of near 30 million while Tennessee has a population of only 7 million.

Alabama and The Rest.

LOL It should be Texas and The Rest
I do not think Alabama under stands the situation when Texas joins the conference. Saban is not going to be coach forever. Look it as a power situation or like a giant RISK game. Oklahoma is already in their orbit. They are like their best friend. They will do what ever Texas wants. That is one school right there. Arkansas was there second best friend back in the SWC days and now get to be their friend again. They will want to the best friend and do what Texas wants. That is two schools now. Texas A&M will see the writing on the wall and will be the best little brother again and will what Texas wants. That is three schools. Missouri is in the same situation as Texas A&M because they will be more dependent on Texas than Alabama. That makes in 4 schools now in their orbit. Just need 3 more to get half the conference. LSU always whining about Alabama running the conference. Texas will go them and said this is there chance to take down Alabama. Auburn is kind in the same boat is LSU. Texas will go to them and say this is your chance to take your big brother down. What about the Mississippi schools? Are sure they are tired of Alabama taking a lot of top talent out of their state. Texas will tried to use that. What about Tennessee? Texas will to them and saying are tired of being under Alabama? What about Florida? Texas will say we are the 2 big state schools that is in the AAU we should stick run the conference not Alabama.

I am not saying all this is going to happen. However, Texas is going to wheel and deal to gain control and they will have plenty of cards to play.

My understanding is that each team will have a permanent rival in each pod. You will play every team in your pod. That is 3 games. You will also play every team in another pod. Which is 4 games. You will rotate the pods each year so that you will play everybody in the conference at least once every 3 years. Then you will play the your permanent rival in the other 2 remaining pods. That makes in 9 games in all. 3 + 4 + 2 = 9 games.

I got a spreadsheet out and tried to guess which would be the permanent rivals for each team and this is what I came out with using the teams in this pod from the post.

Texas - Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida
Oklahoma - LSU, Tennessee, Georgia
Arkansas - Ole Miss,Auburn, South Carolina
Missouri - Miss St, Vanderbilt, Kentucky

Texas A&M - Texas, Georgia, Alabama
LSU - Oklahoma, Florida, Auburn
Ole Miss - Arkansas, South Carolina, Tennessee
Miss St - Missouri, Kentucky, Vanderbilt

Alabama - South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M
Auburn - Georgia, Arkansas, LSU
Tennessee - Florida, Oklahoma, Ole Miss
Vanderbilt - Kentucky, Missouri, Miss St

Florida - Tennessee, LSU, Texas
Georgia - Auburn, Texas A&M, Oklahoma
South Carolina - Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas
Kentucky - Vanderbilt, Miss St, Missouri

So Texas would play Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri every year because they are in the same pod with Texas. Texas would also play Texas A&M, Alabama and Florida because those teams are Texas permanent rivals.
roflmao that was CharlotteSooner and his wife and daughter.

College Football's Most Valuable Teams: Texas A&M Jumps To No. 1
quote:

For years, the Texas Longhorns have been hailed as college football's ultimate cash cow. In 2011, Texas was the first college football team to ever record $100 million in revenue. In 2014, the team generated more in profit $92 million than all but two teams made that year in revenue.

But there's a new No. 1, and you don't even have to leave the state to find them: Texas A&M is now college football's most valuable program.

Across the three years prior to last season, Texas A&M averaged annual revenues of $148 million, the most of any program in the nation. That not only tops the Longhorns, it leaves them in the dust over the same time period, Texas football averaged $133 million in revenue, making them a distant second.

LOL When I posted this a couple of months, it was not important. Now that another article says something different, the newer one is important. Absolutely amazing!
LOL! A couple of months ago this did not matter. Now that another articles says something different it is a bid deal.
LOL A couple of months ago this did not matter to LSU fans. Now, it seems to be a big deal.
