I'm just here for the LSU score.
Who'd they play tonight?
Who'd they play tonight?
I'm mostly surprised that LSU believes it will be worth it.

Theyre no High Point, that’s for sure.
We beat Tech with Toppin. I'd have much preferred to have played Tech without Toppin than High Point.

Don't know about that, but Toppin had the 7th best rebounding average and the 12th best scoring average. Duke could lose Cameron Boozer and be better off than TTU without Toppin.
Honestly, I'm not trying to upset you. I'm just stating facts that you don't like.

Sorry to disappoint you hoss, but your new allegiance to basketball is showing. McCasland is a fantastic coach, but he can't overcome losing a consensus 1st team All-american, who led them in scoring, rebounds and blocks. If you knew anything about Tech, you'd know how crucial he was to their offense. They still had some good games without him, but it's a totally different team with Toppin.

Not comparable. Toppin was the centerpiece of their team and they never stood a chance without him. The betting lines on the game were totally whacked, as if they were set by people who didn't watch college basketball.
Kentucky has rich history as a blueblood and nothing will change that. They have one of the top jobs in the game and just need a great head coach. That could still be Pope, but it's not simply a matter of how much you can pay. Florida and Indiana are contrasting examples of this.
The current problems are just things everyone goes through. Kentucky isn't the exception it may think when it comes to finding great coaching. It's a struggle in Lexington like everywhere else, but it's easier there with Kentucky's tradition and history.
I've witnessed 4 different head coaches win national championships at Kentucky and I suspect that I'll witness 1 or 2 more before I'm gone.

Arkansas and Notre Dame have played the most #1 teams.

Then you never saw Chris Jackson.
Chris Jackson was a great shooter in college (I didn't follow his NBA career), but he wasn't a PG. I think those LSU teams would have been better if they hadn't relied on Jackson so much. Acuff is more of a pure PG than Jackson and it's actually his PG skills that impress me the most.

This conference pride bullshite is hilarious.
Honestly, I love Texas Tech, Christian Anderson and Coach McCasland, but Toppin is an All-american and TTU doesn't have anyone who's close to being able to replace him.

Bama should win easily without Toppin playing. If I were a Bama fan, I'd only worry about trying to out-3 the Red Raiders, because they still have plenty who can shoot.
Last time I checked, LSU had more Final Fours, so I find your title very strange.
How many last-second, game-winning shots does this make for Kentucky this year? Seems like there have been a lot.

Knox is our 4th largest player and our 3rd best 3pt shooter at 38%. He'd be a huge help on defense, as well.

Arkansas has made it to 4 sweet sixteens out of the past 5 tourneys.
Which happens to be twice as many as Ole Miss has all-time.

They had that surprise final four run like a decade ago until Villanova curb stomped them American History X style and they really have never been the same since.
They also played in the national championship game during the 80s and that was a great team, although they lost.
Thanks for the corrections, although I believe Little Rock is still in Arkansas.
I agree with that, but I'm not sure why we're talking about 1-3 seeds, when Mizzou is a 10 seed?

I see Brandon McCoy on the Naismith 3rd team, too. That would make 3 if we got him.
re: Are we in for the worst refereeing in NCAA tournament history?
Posted by redeye on 3/17/26 at 3:59 pm to terriblegreen
It's been getting worse since the mid-80s. Now it's so common place that it's surprising when refs actually call walks or carries. You'd have one called every possession today, if they called them like they did in the 80s.
Players carry all the time, too, but I can't even remember the last time I saw one called. It's like a blue law that's no longer enforced.

Yes, but more importantly, Mizzou is used to playing other teams in the NCAA tournament who do have more of a home court advantage.
There has only ever been one tournament in Arkansas. I think we went to Seattle when we won the national championship and played the title game against Duke in Charlotte. You're not supposed to have a home court advantage.
Funny thing is that it still doesn't matter.
It's just fun to steal your dreams.
