re: Who will be the first developed country in Africa?
Posted by deltaland on 7/30/26 at 7:51 am to Jim Rockford
I was coming to post Botswana
It’s a pretty stable and prosperous sub Saharan African country. Not first world but not a shithole. Still has tribal/rural poverty and higher unemployment but it’s government is competent and cities are modern and there’s a strong middle class there they have a per capita gdp (ppp) of around 22,000 and a high human development index. GDP (ppp) per capita is on par with Ukraine, Colombia, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina

It’s not possible to win against a radical regime that doesn’t give a shite about its people or the country’s economic well being.
That’s a wide margin too.
Midterms will be very very ugly. America is tired of Trump. Moderates and independents hate him and MAGA base is demoralized because Trump has failed to deliver on any of his promises and instead became Israel first not America first.
America is ready to try Socialism. It’s the only option left on the table to most. Neoconservatism, neoliberalism, right wing populism have all failed to deliver what the middle class and working class want as the elite few get richer and richer and regular Americans can’t afford gas or groceries and can’t find a decent job as the mega corporations import cheap labor to replace them. Trump failed to stop this so Americans can go to work. Now the billionaires will get to pay more in taxes since they put profit over people and that wealth will be redistributed to American citizens left behind so they can feed their families

This. It wasn’t just some inconvenience of wearing masks or distancing. Businesses were forced to close, lives were ruined. Peoples health affected through bad medical advice and forced vaccinations

So the occupants aren’t the owners and don’t pay rent and they expect someone to buy it and the occupants stay? Am I reading that right? Wtf
Funny thing is I’ve heard two excuses from millennials
“Boomers are hoarding all the wealth”
“Boomers are holding up all the good jobs by not retiring because they didn’t save for retirement”
Well which is it?

had no idea before I opened this thread that those helicopter rides seriously costs $70,000, and I don't think most other people do either. I thought it was bad enough how I've heard that an ambulance ride costs $1,500 or something like that.
Want a real shock? Look up what they charge for anti venom shots for snake bites. It’s 100-150k a shot. Recently read a guy got bit by cottonmouth and needed 10 shots, was charged over 1 million dollars and had no insurance.
So it’s either die or be bankrupt

$750 for a 2 bedroom house. Landlord knows that he's giving the tenant a sweetheart deal on rent and isn't making anything from it.. So that's why he said he's going to have to raise the rent if he's got to put out $7500 for a new AC unit.
It would take 10 months rent to recoup that money. It’s a reasonable request as 750 is cheap.

Well then you have 4 options
1. The option you took with window units
2. Go without A/C
3. Pay the higher rent and he fixes it
4. Daughter “works something else out”

Carpet bombing Tehran and killing civilians won’t help. They kill their own civilians so they don’t give a shite and they’d use the negative press to turn the world against us
