But accusing LSU/Kiffin of breaking rules that were only clarified after it became an issue before the court is about as un-American as it gets.

Our form of government is only meant for a moral people. That definitely leaves out trollkiffin.

- You were absolutely correct for giving this its own post. Very rational well thought out post.

- Absolutely no one would have seen this, other than alters and trolls, in Reeks thread.

The part about all of this thats the most annoying is the disingenuous level of rationalization by opposing fans.

Like i get it, sports fandom requires you to hate and be antagonistic towards other fanbases and programs.

But at least admit "i dont care what the facts and logic are, frick you"

That would be a stance i could stomach.

But everything else is just straight up proof that humans are doomed in the political sphere. They cant be consistent or rationale. Being this is the SEC, id venture to guess that most of the fans piling on and carving out arbitrary caveats to strengthen their own narrative, are the same baws that have feverishly typed out "Thats (D)ifferent" or derided Lindsay Clancy supporters for their insane, custom made logic.

Youre the same. You like the side you like and everything else is a la carte in whatever way confirms the position or result you want.

When this is all over, the idiots causing this uproar will forget the reason they even went through all this. For now, LSU fans should point and laugh.

A second rational post. You get it.

Since when is that an issue for any CFB player at a major school? It could be anything from pre-med to general studies with an emphasis on auto repair.

At this stage of the game and with how NIL has screwed everything up it doesn't matter.

A pro team gets to pay less for a pro level QB than college teams pay for amatuer level QBs and somehow you seem to think it is a problem for the pro team? Interesting indeed.

It’s a little dry humor. Lighten up.

I don't disagree with your thoughts. Simultaneously, the SEC has sat on their arse allowing this to happen. Examples being the Alabama basketball player, the judge in Mississippi ruling in favor of Chambliss, among others.

Because of the inconsistent exertion of authority resulting in the SEC trying to overcorrect because they were more publicly called out this time and by people they aren't as fond of (i.e. Kiffin), we're now in this position.

The SEC didn't learn from any of the NCAA's mistakes, it seems.

The SEC is simply doing their utmost to rein in the fricked world of college sports.

By not defining what a professional or amateur player is.

By claiming some pro leagues/sports count, and others do not.

The issue is that the SEC has decided to arbitrarily and inconsistently create rules on the fly and then enforce them inconsistently.

This is where a lawsuit against them should and likely will be brought.

There was no such action taken not only on rostering but also in playing a "professional" basketball player against Alabama.

There is the use of anonymous sources from a news article to claim a coach and school did something against previously non-existent conference rules, which are then being applied retroactively or at least threatened to be applied retroactively.

I am all for getting this shite under control, but the way the SEC is going about it is utterly hypocritical, inconsistent, and applying it significantly to one school while letting others actually do worse (rostering and platying pros) to get away with it.

The real problem is the weaponization of the legal system in a deliberate attempt to undermine the SEC.

Oh. So the Mississippi Judge that ruled Trinidad Chambliss could play when the NCAA clearly said otherwise on two occasions weaponized the court against the SEC?

when was the last time you saw a story where a player was suspended and/or declared ineligible due to academics? Used to see these all the time after fall semester and/or after the summer sessions were over. It's been years since I recall seeing these stories pop up.

How are they supposed to get it under control without pressing for legal rights to enforce rules, which they are currently doing?

They can’t go back in time and enforce cases that for whatever reason they did not enforce originally.

They, nor any other player who sought a TRO, needed to weaponize anything against the SEC specifically, because the SEC never filed a lawsuit in federal court or imposed new retro-active conference rules to combat a state court issued TRO until 2 weeks ago. That's what makes this case so unique. The SEC has previously voiced disagreement with TROs in state court; however, they have always followed the state court orders and let kids play who got TROs.

There is a middle ground, between doing nothing and going nuclear on a school that broke no rules.

Maybe at least wait until they break rules before trying to punish them.

I don't know if they still happen and are just so infrequent to warrant notice, or if they put so many protections in place that even kids failing can get exemptions to play, or (admittedly most likely) the classes are shams for any athlete who has no real intention of getting a degree.

Yeah, I remember when it was a BIG deal about player eligibility based on grades, and how you'd see star athletes scrambling to get their grades up, take summer classes to get enough credits, etc. to be eligible.
