If he can continue to put weight on and gain strength to improve the power in his bat hes going to be extremely special the next few years.

Gage Jump (ATH High A) – 6.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 13 K

Just a matter of time for these 2.
I mean shite like that is going to happen. I was more bothered by the fact that we had to play at Texas and at OU this year in baseball. But the schedules are going to even themselves out over the course of multiple seasons.

I think Cowan and Evans along with Anderson and Eyanson as our starters will be very hard to beat come regional play.

For a Regional you need to win 3 games. So you would need to have Evans or Cowan available for game 3. If all 4 of them are burned games 1 and 2 then you're at a disadvantage come the third and/or 4th game.

For a Super Regional and the CWS Final I agree with you, but for the Regional and CWS additional arms are going to be needed in order to win and advance.

After Cowan, Evans, and sometimes Benge, it mostly sucks.

There are several factors but also expectations are off the charts. We have young arms and there is plenty of good outings to look at, but yes the rest of the bullpen has struggled with command one point or another. Better to struggle now as opposed to late in the season.

I said when Aiden Moffett transferred he was going to factor in to the bullpen this year so it was a bigger loss than some expected. He has a lot of potential and could have worked in well in short outings to help stop the bleeding. But he isn’t being used at Texas so it’s impossible to predict how people would translate when the season and competition start. Same can be said for some of our transfer portal bullpen arms. They have potential but it hasn’t exactly translated to consistent performances.

All you had to do was call a hitting TO or argue something with the ump and Floyd was a done until the CWS

This is a little misleading. Ty was good for the majority of the season. He had a few outings where he got squeezed and then couldn’t recover but he was a very good Saturday starter.

How quickly people forget how effective he was as the Saturday starter. It wasn’t just the CWS where he performed well.

Not sure why you got all these down votes. Your point on we need more pitchers to rely on and cannot just have 4 consistent pitchers is the correct one.

However, I will say Anderson had a unique rough outing that will not be the norm so it will be likely that most Friday's we only burn 1 bullpen arm and can hopefully save Evans and Cowan for another night but right now with Guidry not healthy and Schmidt struggling Cowan seems to be the guy to follow Anderson. I do expect Cowan Evans, Schmidt, and Guidry to be relied on in the backend of the season.

I also like Chase and think he will get better as the season continues as he continues to comeback from injury and build more strength and confidence. Curious to see who follows up Shores today and how they perform.

getting 1 this weekend is an acceptable outcome. not ideal but the goal was always to avoid the sweep.

That is not even remotely close to being accurate. And if that was the case then we have no business being in the top 10. Winning on the Road is hard but you don’t go in hoping to just avoid a sweep. Smh

But we have Cowan who’s our stopper / long relief guy now

Need Guidry back

That Changeup has been filthy.

Its still early, we have some really got arms coming out of the bullpen but we are trying to find a handful of guys to be consistent. I expect Jay to be more selective as the season goes on. I mean when Guidry is back that will be 19 pitchers used. Thats a big number, the Freshmen have been impressive and Cowan has been $

The Bengals are a terribly run organization, they could have gotten all their guys for significantly less $ if they would have elected to pay them sooner...glad Chase got paid.

You people will argue about anything.

now we have a "pro breast cancer" crowd and an "anti-breast cancer crowd".

This ^^^. People just find issues with everything nowadays.
Dude some of the players have family members who have Breast Cancer. Its a supporting gesture to that. Be a little more empathetic. I wore a pink sleeve throughout high school because of my aunt (17 years ago...damn I feel old), its not an attention seeking thing.

Is Curiel Better than Crewes as freshman?

Crews and Curiel are different players. Curiel has shown right now that he can flat out hit. But what separated Crews from other Freshmen and hitters was he had true power from foul pole to foul pole.

Lets see how Curiel does come conference play but it is going to be difficult to maintain his current pace and without this pace with Crews' power its going to be hard to say he has a better freshman season than Crews.
Holy shite please tell me you're just trolling and not at all serious
Just needs more reps. He has all the tools to be a very good defensive catcher.

His bat is definitely what is going to get him the most playing time but we are going to continue to give him action during the midweek games to give him the reps needed to fine tune those skills defensively.

They'll be like, it's too early to be concerned

Since last weekend the pitching staff has been giving up too many free bases. No one is ignoring that and you can be concerned. But Jay is still tinkering with the staff trying to find the guys who are going to be consistent. That is what you do early in the season so that we don't have these issues late in the season. Just enjoy the season and lets see where the staff is at in a month.
