So in an amateur sport there are individuals that make almost as much as an entire professional team that has TV contracts and is probably the 5th most watched professional sport in America behind NFL, NBA, MLB and Hockey.

Defining what a pro is will probably take more mental gymnastics than a Federal Judge will allow to prove a distinction worth expulsion or a TRO

Other SEC schools are flirting with the “amateur “ rules. In multiple sports. With American & foreign players.
So, why is LSU THE CURRENT TARGET”? Why not sue them all, threaten every school with expulsion? It is a plain as the nose on your face.
Stankee and a few certain schools feel that the SEC is theirs to do with as they want. LSU is becoming too relevant in football and basketball.

I agree the conferences need self governance in light of the never ending lawsuits. The idea is sound. However, in the SEC’s case, I feel the wrong guy is leading the charge. His selling of the contract solely to ESPN was a huge mistake that cost the conference millions. Not having enough business acumen to include in the original contract for the contract to pay the conference legitimate $ based in OU and UT’s worth. And, of course, the selling the coaches in a nine game conference schedule. By telling them he had assurances from the Big X that they were going to a 16 team playoff.

So is there not NIL money on the table when a kid signs a LOI to come to a school/the highest bidder? Would that LOI not be classified as a contract also, since the kids' getting paid?

That’s an assumption that I thought too but completely incorrect. One of them never even attended a practice as he got hurt before and was paid 165 dollars for gas per his testimony under oath. The other guy did practice but never played in a preseason game. I am not sure how much the former NFL players on Texas, Kentucky and USCe played but I know that the Texas guy played in a few preseason games. They actually have less experience than they do.

The SEC arbitrarily and I would argue capriciously, decided that if they signed a contract they were ineligible no matter if they ever attended a practice. This is really a legally indefensible position and those players are going to win their lawsuit against Sankey and the SEC easily. If I were Clayton I would not take less than 50 million and I would bury the SEC in the discovery. They are entitled to every email, text, phone record, meeting notes etc on this issue. That will be a mfering disaster for Sankey and the SEC. I do this shite for a living and I have seen this before. Entitled overpaid bureaucrats never seem to listen to their company lawyers who tell them not to put shite in Texas and email’s and do it anyway because they can’t ever imagine that coming to life. I have made millions off of this and the great trial lawyers have made billions.
