Our AD put not being on one of these list above the long term survival of our football team.

You would think we'd spent the most, not the least, on buyouts with how this forum and the general media acts towards us

Scott Woodward is responsible for a lot of that money being paid out.

You seem to be a wise man. How long does this continue?

If some of these folks arguing over when we can kill babies and what is a woman figure out state universities are paying out these huge buyouts (regardless of whether it was paid by a sad megarich donor or not) when does someone take up this cause? I think the Athletic and New York Times have made a feigned attempt at it, but they don’t have the ground forces here yet to make a charge. When does this become a learing center type issue?

LSU has spent over $1 billion dollars on football just in the past 20 years. If you divide $1,000,000,000 dollars by 27 wins it gets ugly. Even ignoring the costs from the first 110 years of LSU football they have still spent over $37 million dollars per win over Alabama.

Upvote.

These huge buyouts are not sustainable. Regardless of how much people here talk about their wealthy donors. College football inflation has dwarfed Covid inflation. And that was BAD, and we will be paying for it for decades.

And yes, Alabama will have to face a decision about how much is a buy out worth at some point, every school does. Heck, there are some mouthbreathing Alabama fans talking about a buy out for a coach who just played in the SEC championship game and won a CFP game. No surprise - a small amount of Alabama fans called for Saban’s firing after every loss.

But most of those people can’t fund a $150 buyout. And there is no way SEC schools can afford $150 million a year in buyouts.
