Plenty old enough

So, not all that bright then?

Never played against each other .

I guess you aren't old enough to remember the 2018 Rose Bowl/semifinal game.

Saban didn't have the control that he wanted, and thought he'd have. The fact that he really wanted Drew Brees and couldn't get him was the dominant reason for his leaving.

This. He wasn't run out of the NFL. He chose to leave.

Hal Mumme and Mike Leach developed the spread before they got to Kentucky.

They began developing it at Iowa Wesleyan. They then moved to Valdosta State because Mike Leach visited the campus and saw the swimming pool next to the football offices.

Mumme, Leach, and Guy Morris were all at VSU with Chris Hatcher as the QB.

Jim Donnan

Donnan won an FCS national championship and played for two more. All three of those games were against Jim Tressel's Youngstown State.

He had a horrible record in the big games at UGA, but his final four teams finished ranked and won bowl games.

Dooley wanted to give him another year, but President Adams overruled him and fired Donnan due to several off-the-field issues; things he would have survived had he won the big games.

Every coach ever at Missouri and Kentucky

Growing up in GA when Bill Curry was the GT head coach, his leaving for Bama, then going to UK, and then being GA State's first head coach is memorable to me.

I was a student at Valdosta State when Hal Mumme was coaching there and left for UK. VSU lost a playoff game at Carson Newman, and Mumme didn't fly home with the team. He went to UK for the announcement. When the players arrived back in town they were furious with many believing Mumme threw the game so he could go ahead and go.

Guy Morris was at VSU on Mumme's staff; so, I remember him.

Joker Phillips, well, he is named Joker.

Rich Brooks, they hired a coach with a long proven losing record.

As for Mizzou, they had Dan Devine, a fact I know from looking him up after seeing Rudy. Funny thing is, Mizzou hasn't won their conference since he was the coach.

Pinkel was pretty good.
From a spectator perspective, it’s football first with softball second. Everything else trails far behind, and I only watch the games in which one of my alma maters is playing, if then.

The OP's head coach is actually the one who's feasted on cream puffs of all the returning coaches. Drinkwitz has a .792 win% against unranked opponents but just a .182 win% against ranked opponents.

This. This right here.

…and they gave him an extension when nobody was coming for him.

No arguments. I simply raised the issue because it was brought up with Morehead.

Be careful - Mizzou gives us a very tough game every year. I’ll never understand the Mizzou hate on this forum, they’re probably the best posters here.

Mizzou wants to act like it is a premiere program when it hasn’t won its conference since Dan Devine was coaching there.

The OP is talking cream puffs when to most everyone else, they are a cream puff. But hey, they played UGA close and made it to ATL a couple of times.

They bring it on themselves.

Well, she had been the United States Secretary of Education prior to that. ;)
Kirby Smart loves to play cream puffs. He’s 8-0 against Mizzou.

To whom are you referring at UNC?

UNC-Chapel Hill has a Chancellor as its head. He has a JD from Georgetown.

The president of the UNC system has an MLA from Harvard and was previously the president of the North Carolina Community College System.

Will Kemp’s time as governor be enough to offset the fact that he only has a bachelor’s degree? Morehead’s not having a terminal degree was questioned when he was appointed president, but he does have a JD.

I didn’t realize that you were a communist.

I was in Ripon a few years ago the weekend before the show. I was eating breakfast in the hotel just before I checked out. Several older couples who were in town for the show were also eating breakfast.

One old guy asks the old guy at the next table: "Do you have any suggestions as to where to sit so that we can get a better view?'

Other old guy: "They are in the air. Just sit anywhere and look up."

First old guy: "Oh! Thank you very much."

They were both dead serious, and it was all I could do to contain my laughter.

Late December, freezing cold Shreveport, 6-6 Alabama with an interim coach is gonna face 6-6 Oklahoma State.

I'm okay with 6-6 teams not being part of the postseason. I'd rather have playoffs.

Give me the smaller conferences and intact rivalries, though.

Every fanbase, outside of maybe UGA, would quickly give up their current Head Coach for Lane Kiffin.

In the SEC or nationwide?

IU certainly wouldn't trade Cignetti for him. Ohio State is well off with Day, and Oregon wouldn't dump Lanning for him.

If Kirby were to retire at the end of the season, I wouldn't want UGA making a play for him. I'd rather have Lanning.

quote:

Not to mention, Lane would have absolutely lost the Georgia game...

UGA had four starters out on defense. UGA wasn't stopping Chambliss, no matter who was the head coach. It's not an excuse. You have to play with what you have on the field.

If 1945 Army (of all teams) won it unanimously, would you be in favor of commissioning a trophy and announcing the retroactive designation from the AFCA in the form of a big sign in your end zone?

No. Nobody who played back then lifted a national championship trophy.

It, however, is not like OSU unilaterally decided to claim '45.

Now their biggest is...K-State? Tech?

That's a good/sad question.

I don't know who our "big game" is supposed to be, and the conference is so big that we won't be playing the same teams each year. I don't see how a rivalry will develop.

At least in the SEC, the rivalries not being played each year will be offset by big games.

Stuck is an accurate description. I don't see anywhere realistic to move that would improve the situation.
