That’s not going to happen. The Heisman is locked up. But I’ll own the dimwit thing.

If Arch plays well they could easily win, if he plays like he did earlier this year it’s gonna be bad for Texas. Kirby and Schu are gonna bring pressure from every direction to get him out of any rhythm..

I actually think the other side of the ball is what will have more bearing on the outcome. Georgia’s offense might be the best unit on the field. The Texas defense has been exposed in the secondary. If Texas can’t reasonably contain Georgia’s offense, Arch’s performance—good or bad—will only determine the margin of loss for Texas.

If tu wins out then they are definitely in the playoff and Arch is a leading Heisman candidate. I hate whorn but I have to hand it to them, they are masters at selling their brand to the media, creating and owning the narrative and manipulative marketing to get their way. It’s pretty remarkable.

If Texas wins out it will have little to do with selling, marketing, or manipulating narratives. They’ll have earned it on the field.
Have heard great things about Athens. Wish I could make it this year. Thankfully, it won’t be long before there is another opportunity. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Of those besides Oklahoma I probably watch more Texas games than any of the others.

Yep. I watch OU and A&M every week.

14-7 is convincingly now?

My thoughts exactly. The game was determined inside the 5 yard line. Both teams had 4th and goal from the 1. OSU scored; Texas didn’t. 14-7. And Texas had the ball at the end of the game with a chance to tie. Texas out gained OSU ~330 to ~200. Ohio State deserved to win but it was certainly competitive.

They’re lucky to have us.

Cool. In our case then, big brother has a massive little brother complex. And little brother has the historically dominant athletic department.

Some mediocre coaches are going to be massively overpaid and then canned in a few years with enormous buyouts.

Texas’ problem is the boosters want to run the show, not the head coach

That’s a bit simplistic, but also true. I’d argue that everyone has boosters that want to meddle and that Texas has lacked the AD to set a course and keep them in check. We also have a commie faculty has been trying to kill our football program for 50 years. On the rare occasion when we have a capable coach things tend to fall in line and everybody pulls in the same direction. We can’t hire worth a crap though. There are times when our football crazy boosters have been the only thing we’ve had going for us.

Who cares? You can win a title at LSU just as easy as you can anywhere else. Thats been proven. LSU is among a handful or two of places where this is the case. For reasons I can’t quite put my finger on it seems it’s easier to win there than Texas. It’s about fit. Perhaps it’s easier to find a good fit at LSU than Texas? I digress. Kelly wasn’t a good one, so they cut bait. Onward.

You don’t want or need that. Trust me. Let OSU be saddled with that. Y’all keep flying under the radar for as long as you can.

Oklahoma State

If that’s the best he can do right now he should stay at A&M. SMU might open up in the upcoming carousel. That would be a job worth taking.
Honest answer: I would like to win it at least as much as any other school. Clock started in 2024 for us and we’re trailing Georgia, 1-0. That’s how I look at it.

Correct.
1. A&M
2. Alabama
3. Georgia
4. Indiana
5. Ohio St

re: Is Oklahoma great on defense?

I wasn’t intending to disrespect OU’s defense. I think they’re really, really good. As far as the anomaly in the Cotton Bowl, I think it boiled down to Texas having their backs against the wall after losing @ Florida. They played really hard. Then the next week against Kentucky not so much.

Re: Wisner, he hasn’t been healthy much of the year and when he has played he hasn’t gotten the volume of carries he got against OU. He’s really good at outside zone. He just has a feel for it. He’s caused problems for OU two years in a row on that one play. Texas has tried to incorporate other run concepts much of the year (unsuccessfully) and then they busted out with a heavy dose of outside zone against OU. Then they shelved it again in the Kentucky game.

Wow…I’ve never seen that part of the stadium Have they thought about changing that design at all?

It’s brand new.

They gave up 23 to Texas.

16 (7 on a punt return), but yeah.

OU has a technically sound, well coordinated defense. I don’t consider them elite or dominant, just really good. Texas leaned on them in the second half. They’re not in the same class as last year’s Georgia defense or Ohio State’s defense to my eyes.
