Since 2020 SEC Programs Have Spent Over $300 Million on Coaching Buyouts

Since 2020 SEC programs have spent more than $300 million on coaching buyouts, more than any other conference. This trajectory can’t continue can it? Last year alone they spent over $150 million. When does this madness end? Did administrators learn nothing from Jimbo? Forgive me if I missed anyone, but the biggest spenders were:
LSU: $85 million
Texas A&M: $76 million
Auburn: $53 million
Kentucky: $38 million
Florida: $33 million
Those five schools paid people $285 million to not work.

LSU sure as hell didn't.
You'd think all AD's would put a performance clause in those contracts. You're buying potential, not performance for the most part.

To be fair, the AD who made the shitty contracts is gone so hopefully this won't be as much of a thing going forward for us.
Stein's contract is a much better situation. If he's fired without cause we'd owe 70% of the remaining contract (he's at 5 years, a little over 5 million a year). If he leaves before the contract is up, he owes us 30% of the remaining contract. Has some decent incentives starting at 7 wins.

Not on OP's list but texas paid Tom Herman $15 million, $24 million counting his staff.
If Oklahoma fires Venables after 2026, something I don't foresee happening, his buyout will be $26.2 million.
On the other side, either Lincoln Riley or USC had to pay OU $4.5 million.

Are these lump-sum payments or is it structured? Usually there’s some language about a portion of it payable within XX days of termination.
