I for one think this is a really cool idea and deserves consideration from the SEC office. I know as a husband and dad of two little ones, it would make convincing the wife and kids to go to the tournament a lot easier if we could also spend the weekend at the beach. The best part of the tourney, is having all the sec fans represented in the stands. Think of how cool it would be to see tents along the coast of the sec teams and their respective fans celebrating their school. I know when we go to orange beach (Alabama) i enjoy seeing fans represent their school pride with their team gear. One thing for sure after reading this thread, people need to get out of their feelings and be open to new ideas instead of taking things personal and viewed as an attack against their school or state.

I bet if you ask every SEC coach about moving the tournament to a place like Pensacola they would absolutely hate that idea. Too many distractions.

I don’t get why so many people have posted threads about moving the baseball tournament out of Hoover. I have not been to the met in a long time has it fell apart or something? If people just want the game moved then call the SEC office and demand the tournament be moved to Regions Park. It’s pretty new. I haven’t been to a game there but have seen it on tv and it looks very nice.

I think youre wrong. Sorry that we don't all want the tournament in your backyard. Sorry that you feel threatened over potentially losing the tournament. Hoover sucks

Staying near the beach during Memorial Day week would be too pricey for the average family to attend, dumb arse.

There are certainly better venues in the conference footprint than Hoover from a fan standpoint, and if we stay with the current format, I think a move would be in order. But, I wonder if we will retain the current format after expansion. With 16 teams, you are leaving four at home, rather than two. It's unlikely that any of those four would be in consideration for an NCAA bid, but it also means that you're going to have some teams eliminated from even conference tournament consideration a week or two earlier than is the case now, which could influence the title race if contenders end up playing those teams.

Frankly, I'd like to see them consider pool play, and having all 16 teams come. You'd need two venues to do this, but greater Birmingham has two. You'd have four pools of four teams -- two pools would play in Birmingham at the Barons park, and two at Hoover. The winners of the four pools would play single elimination semi-finals on Saturday at Hoover, and then a championship game on Sunday at Hoover.

Each team would be guaranteed 3 games (so it would be worth making the trip for the fans, and keeps your pitchers on something more like their regular rotation).

Airport/airline access is pretty similar to B'ham, arguably better. There might be reasons not to send the tournament to Pensacola, but this isn't it.

Anything to get out of Alabama huh. Move to a stadium that seats half the folks but just as long as you stick it to Bama.

Man... this is quite pathetic.

Move it to Daytona Beach instead. Easier to get to.

I might would start going to the tournament again if they'd move it around. There is nothing cool about driving that far to go to Hoover Alabama

Tampa would be good, too. Steinbrenner Field holds over 10k. And there's precedence since the SEC basketball tournament was there recently.

It doesn't matter where it is. Some people won't be happy about it. Hoover has built an incredible complex. I am not sure any other place could top what the players have and need.

I doubt some jabroni stadium in Birmingham is on the same level as the Yankees spring training complex.

That’s looks pretty sweet! Good idea.

I do know, it shouldn’t ever move to Arlington. Horrible idea

The only place the tournament would move is a AAA equivalent ballpark, seating wise. Almost all the newer AA ballparks are too small. And it more than likely won't be in Metro Dallas, which is farther west than every school in the conference.

> Coolray Field (Suburban Atlanta) - 10,427 (built 2009)

> AutoZone Park (Downtown Memphis) - 10,000 (built 2000)

> First Horizon Park (Downtown Nashville) - 10,000 (built 2015)

> Dell Diamond (Suburban Austin) - 11,631 (built 2000)

Sugar Land's stadium only seats 7,500.

Any place not getting the amount of rain that hoover gets would easily top it. any place with a roof absolutely tops it.

When was the last SEC tourney that wasnt delayed by rain?
