so some major league stadium is going to allow the SEC Tourney to be played there?

It rains all over the south in May.

Are we moving the tournament to San Diego? If not, this isn't a thing. All those storms also dumped rain in almost all the other options before or after moving through Hoover.

So we move the tournament to Miami, St Pete or Arlington? During the MLB regular season?

Pensacola is a beautiful park and the area around it has really been spiffed up the last 10-15 years. Fun town and great area.

But the place seats 5,000 people. That's not even close to being enough.

Steinbrenner Field is probably one of the better options if it's open. The only problem might be that they are still doing extended spring training and Single A ball.

It's apparently a "dump" though according to MrAUTigers.

Personally I think we should play it for a one off year at Estadio Latinoamericano in Havana.

I think they are comfortable with Hoover, trust them to deal with whatever issues show up, they run it well and the programs like it. It isn't going to move unless something in that equation changes.

Move to a stadium that seats half the folks but just as long as you stick it to Bama.

The location of a tournament has nothing to do with "Bama". Now, return to your trailer and shut the frick up.

I think Hoover is fine. I never said the Yankees complex is a dump......but it is very evident parking is better at Hoover. I don't see a difference with the complexes. Sorry.

ETA Steinbrenner seats 10,200

Hoover seats 10,800

so what exactly makes Steinbrenner "better"?

CRAZY IDEA ALERT

We make a lot of money. For about $5-$7 million per team, we could build our own stadium. Instead of going to Minute Maid and Frisco or Dell each year, we could host our own tournaments. Clearly the end of the season Tournament.

We could also play a regional type tournament every week of the season with 4 rotating teams that aren’t on the perm/rotation. You could play every SEC team at least 1 game a year if you did this.

3 Perm Series (9)
6 Rotation Series (18)
2 Regional Series (6)

So 33 SEC games instead of 30.

“The Waffle House”

Get them to pay for the naming rights. Host enough games and the city (city with the best bid and location wins) will donate the land and maybe pay for a lot of the cost from the economic benefits.

You could also have a minor league team move there. You could have high school select teams come play there for tournaments.

You could do an SEC all star game there or pro days for scouts to come watch. Lots and lots of options to fund the idea and provide a benefit to the players and exposure.

Build the field with dimensions exactly like Omaha.. after all, that is the goal.

Yes, it’s crazy, but I like it.

They should rotate all of the championships every other year.

Football: Atlanta - other - Atlanta - other - Atlanta
Basketball: Nashville - other - Nashville - other - Nashville
Baseball: Hoover - other - Hoover - other - Hoover

That maintains a balance between the tradition and familiarity of a set host but also provides geographical balance and freshness to spread things around.
