Yeah, to me the biggest argument against Pensacola (or anywhere else really) is there really isn't much wrong with where it is. That said, Memorial Day weekend with a festival type atmosphere overlooking the Bay, the Blue Angels practicing mid-week, the beach in the morning and baseball in the afternoon/evening, and a night at the bars downtown would be pretty cool.

Wouldn’t you think it might be tough getting the nicer hotels in the area on Memorial Day weekend?

Anything to get out of Alabama huh. Move to a stadium that seats half the folks but just as long as you stick it to Bama.
You LSU folks need to get over your obsession with Bama. We don't consider you a rival, we don't consider you a threat. Look at the football overall series. hell, look at the baseball overall series.
You got this Bama thing when Saban came to Bama. Here's a fact...Only you consider the Bama game a huge deal. Bama has Auburn and UT and you are 3rd but a distant 3rd. The Bama LSU game is talked about in Alabama the week of the game. The Bama LSU game is talked 365 in LA. Snuggle up with A&M because that is gonna be your yearly rival going forward.

Holy fricking melt, Batman.

Pensacola does have an absolutely beautiful park and surrounding area. That area of town is a bit pricey for most young families though.

Not really. Its more of a condo type place yet for example, the Hilton on Pensacola Beach has availability this weekend. That's not even considering the ton of interstate type hotels.

I'm from Houston and Pensacola is the only place in the US I have ever been that is more humid in the summer. Its like the swampy river in the movie African Queen.

They're not going to host it in a major league stadium.
You can keep hating on Hoover all you want but they have done everything the SEC has ever asked them to do. They seat 12,000+, have the parking, RV park, have built practice fields, built the indoor facility to host the SEC Fanfare, etc.

I really wish they would move it to Pensacola as I think it would be so much better for the fan experience, but facility wise, nothing approaches Hoover. They have a great thing going and I don't see the SEC leaving them anytime soon.

As for Minute Maid, I live in Houston and I have sat thru a few Astros game with 8K in attendance. I love the place, but like any stadium, it sucks balls when its 15-20% full. Arlington would be even worse. Atlanta with The Battery and location would probably be a little bit better, but would still be a bad choice. And try working around consecutive series for a MLB baseball team.

Hoover is a dump. Really, there are multiple cities that would be a better host.

Better question is why have it at all? Most teams/ coaches really don't want to be there throwing arms. When the teams could be resting for regionals.

Or give the tournament to the Regular season champion?

Baseball doesn't make money at most schools. 4 schools(one per site) that would other wise be making money by hosting a home series are now losing money by incurring travel costs would probably make this a deal breaker in itself.

I like the format and the idea of getting Regional type experience. Down side would be as many as half of the 8 SEC teams eliminated the first weekend would be off for two consecutive weeks before real post season play begins. End of the day, I really wish they would do this. Hell just start the SEC schedule a week earlier and lose some non-conf games. With RPI, it wouldnt matter if everyone lost a cupcake series.

You pathetic dumbass it’s not like we said we wanted it moved to Louisiana. What part of Pensacola has anything to do with Louisiana?

Get over yourself, because I promise you it’s not just LSU fans that want that tournament out of Hoover. Life doesn’t revolve around Alabama.

All minor league teams are using their stadiums right now. A Triple A stadium would be best, but it would have to fit in the schedule. Nashville is a great option.

I bet if you ask every SEC coach about moving the tournament to a place like Pensacola they would absolutely hate that idea. Too many distractions.

I don’t get why so many people have posted threads about moving the baseball tournament out of Hoover. I have not been to the met in a long time has it fell apart or something? If people just want the game moved then call the SEC office and demand the tournament be moved to Regions Park. It’s pretty new. I haven’t been to a game there but have seen it on tv and it looks very nice.
