Probably. I'm really not trying to make it a pissing contest. It just is what it is. Even the bottom schools are good schools.

It has changed a lot in GA; ACT is on par with SAT now whereas it wasn’t that way 10-15 years ago

IMO it's:

Vandy

UGA/UF/A&M (no order)

Alabama/Auburn
Tennessee/South Carolina

Everyone else

Does that extra chromosome allow you to speak without knowing what you are saying?

VOLS now have higher expectations for the students than the football team.

Pretty much. And there’s a lot to read into that, too, considering UGA doesn’t have an actual medical program and only recently established a College of Engineering. Shows what a success the HOPE Scholarship program has been because UGA would’ve been on that South Carolina/ Tennessee tire in the early 90s

ACT has grown a lot in popularity relative to the SAT. SAT used to be the big test everyone took when I was in HS but now it has really evened out with the ACT.

Dont know if just a Northern thing, but most of the schools I applied to up north or looked at, required ACT

My high school made us take both for whatever reason. I found the ACT to be more difficult personally, although I performed relatively about the same on both. I also took these tests before the writing section was added to the SAT so I'm not sure how that would affect my opinion.
Same. If I remember correctly, SAT was a little more math oriented than the ACT

Tennessee has a taken a step in their "bottom tier" quality because of the lottery as well. I guess that's good, and there needs to be a floor of inherent knowledge a kid needs to get into a competitive school, but I also think there is something to the "state" university being generally accessible for most kids in the state who worked hard and made decent grades.

However, the counter would be that the state lotto programs make it harder to get into the big school which helps trickle down better students to secondary schools and improves them. I think what really happens is those kids who can't quite make the cut are split between the Georgia Southern/MTSUs of the world and the Alabama/Auburn/Ole Miss' of the world.

A&M would be right there with Florida on these numbers, but for our decision to grow enrollment. We've gone from 52K to 68K in five years.

LINK

I hope that was the right decision. It's helping our alumni base, but it's hurting our academic numbers.

The ACT math section was a joke for the most part. 60 questions, but everything is basic algebra or some form of geometry. Only 4 questions on trigonometry, which even then isn't that hard for any kid from a good high school.

Everything else on the ACT is a pretty big cake walk imo, which is why I loved it. The science section can be a bitch. It's really just a glorified reading comp section where they try to throw you off with big words and confusing theories.
