Dawgs win it 4-0 over Mizzou.

Dawgs run rule Troy 11-1 in 7 innings

Didn’t Vigue have an issue at the end of his last outing? Hopefully just some fatigue and getting some needed rest. We need him badly.
Had a forearm cramp at Arkansas. Supposedly Wes decided Sunday AM before he could even get warmed up to sit him. Idk that I believe that but gotta hope he comes back this weekend

11-0 Dawgs in the 6th
Dan Jackson has 2 HRs and 5 RBI
Brings his season total to 23 HR and 21 SB. A 25/25 season is well within range with an outside shot at becoming only the second player ever to hit 30/30 (JD Drew is the only one to ever do it)

A more accurate picture of a teams resume might be this… RPI Top 25 Wins minus Losses Outside the Top 25: +6 Auburn, Texas +4 Ole Miss, Texas A&M +2 Georgia, Georgia Tech +1 Arkansas, Florida, N Carolina, UCLA -1 Florida St, Miss St -2 Alabama, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Tennessee -3 Kansas, Miami -4 USC, Virginia -5 Wake Forest -6 Kentucky, Oregon St. FYI, Vandy is -7, LSU -8, Missouri -9, and South Carolina is -10.
Wonder if you could adjust for this with regard to just weekend losses vs all games. Not that this is any less valid a look at resume but curious the actual strength of teams by this metric when it’s good vs good during weekends tilts.

Man, we deserve to finally catch a break in the schedule. Beat A&M head to head, beat ole Miss and swept MSU, all on the road. Ags just catching up. Whoever ends up winning the conference will have earned it, that’s for sure.

Our draw in regional play is going to determine a lot for us, unfortunately. Would like to one day be at a point with this program when we can confidently take on all comers but the state of our pitching depth just doesn’t really allow for that. Good news is our lineup is just fricking hell on wheels; what they’ve done on the road does not get enough attention and Dan Jackson isn’t getting the publicity he deserves for the season he is having as a fricking catcher.

Pretty much every other metric is secondary to RPI.
In the past, yes. This year they’re introducing DSR and KPI to the committees decision, though, and that can look pretty disparate for some teams.
For example, UGA is sitting at 19 in RPI and 12 in KPI but 8 in DSR

5-1 Dawgs win the rubber match and the series. Aoki paved the way but Ishikawa, Brown, Edwards, Farley, and Byrd all pitched down the stretch after throwing the last 2 games. No clue where Vigue is and that’s concerning.
But in spite of some really rough looking pitching this weekend, we have now won series in College Staion, Starkville, Fayetteville, and Oxford. That’s positively insane.

Credit where it’s due: Caden Aoki woke up today and told Wes he wanted the ball. He has pitched 6 full innings of 4 hit, 2 walk ball with 7 strikeouts and we still have Vigue

It takes 14 innings but Phelps hits a solo shot and we add a bases loaded walk to win Game 2 9-7.
Vigue gets the start tomorrow but I have no idea who we have left to pitch behind him. Aoki, Scott, Byrd, Brown, and Farley are all spent. Jameson may be too. A complete game would be a god send…

Byrd gets the ball in the 12th after blowing Gams 1. Proceeds to hit the leadoff man with the first pitch he throws.
We are so bad on the mound you’d almost think we’re doing it on purpose.

In the last 4 games, UGA pitching has averaged per game:
11.25 runs
11.5 hits
6.5 walks
That includes a run rule loss to Tech and 8-run and 4-run blown leads in Game 1 and 2 today, respectively
Currently in the 12th inning of game 2. Longer this goes on, the more imperiled game 3 tomorrow becomes as Ole Miss has a much deeper, better quality pen than we do.

On cue, Scott with a 5 pitch leadoff walk in the 10th. Grant Edwards coming in after a horrendous outing in Arkansas on Sunday.

I’ve been a UGA season ticket holder since the perno years. I’m quite aware the difference. This is the first season under Wes we’ve had a regular starter on the mound average more than 3 innings of work. My critique of the staff isn’t hyperbole and guess work, we are now and have been in the statistical basement for pitching in the SEC all 3 years he has been here. We give up an inordinate number of walks and HBPs and it absolutely kills us.

Well we just took a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the 9th
4 pitch leadoff walk and then a 2 run Home Run
7-7 with nobody out
NIL or just better evals, better figure out how to put together a better staff than whatever this clown show is. Absolutely atrocious 7 days of baseball

Unless Arkansas retires DVH, Wes isn’t going anywhere and he may not even go there. He is an obvious improvement over Stricklin and the program is at least in hosting conversations again… but we cannot keep living in the bottom third of pitching in the conference. We will not ever advance beyond Supers if we don’t find an advantage on the mound, no matter how many tanks we hit. Regular season wins are a good way to pass the time February-May but nobody cares about what you did in April if you shite the bed in June.
As for money, far as I can tell Wes hs been given what he wants; he just wants guys with high velocity stuff that he can mold. Problem is we need guys who can hit the fricking zone, not the Jordan Stephens of the world who touch 100 but walk and hit batters far more than striking anyone out. So far all Wes has done with our pitchers is make guys who would’ve been late round MLB flyers picks into mid round guys, none of which is really helping us win ballgames at the college level.

That’s what you say when you surrender a 2 run lead in the 9th. We blew an 8 run lead in the 4th.
We don’t have a 3rd starter (nevermind a 4th or 5th arm for tournament play), our bullpen is mostly trash project arms with good stuff and terrible pitch placement, and we still don’t hve hardly any lefty arms (let alone anyone who can hit a strike zone). Wes has been nothing short of an abject failure as a pitching coaching to this point. His only saving grace has been hiring Coggin and being ahead of the curve in scouting and recruiting the portal on the offensive side.

3 years in and I’m becoming convinced this is just who we are under Wes: good team 3/4 of the way through a season, shite the bed down the stretch, blow it in our own regional, rinse and repeat.
Better than where we were but im really not interested in doing this for 8 years before we wise up. He needs to show growth in year 4 or we need to consider moving on while we still have some momentum
