I thought people liked this guy. Now he’s shite?
Fantastic LB coach and developer, was supposed to be the next big thing after all the time he has spent with Kirby, Lanning, and Muschamp. But the last two seasons have just been abject failures from aDC perspective. Still recruits well and the LBs are still pretty good but the scheme has been just awful and the development of our young defense this year seems almost non existent.

He has been an incredible recruiter and position coach in his time in Athens. But without Muschamp beside him to help with the defensive playcalling, he has been really bad this year as a DC. Like… haven’t been this bad defensively since Todd Grantham was here under Richt.

Bradbury’s short stories are some of the best in all of literature. The Veldt, There Will Come Soft Rains, The October Game, Small Assassin. King gets a ton of attention (in some cases deservedly so) but Bradbury did as much for sci-fi and horror lit as Twilight Zone and Isaac Asimov.

Yeah only way Key leaves Tech is for a Bama/OSU tier job and idk if he will ever get that. He kind of excels at maximizing the talent he can get at a place like Tech. Hard nosed, motivational type. He’d actually be perfect for a place like Arkansas

Everything up and through 2011 on the Rant were the halcyon days. Post 21-0 is when everything started to go to shite.

re: Who produced a better baseball card in the early 90’s, Topps Stadium Club or Upper Deck?
Posted by tylerdurden24 on 8/12/25 at 9:05 pm to TexasTiger08
Topps had the best card design in the 80s, Upper Deck took over in the 90s.
I recently went through and organized about 8 boxes full of random cards I’d collected in the 90s plus my dads from the 70s and 80s. Comparatively speaking, everything from the 90s was an absolute clusterfrick of wildly varying quality, weird designs, and random offshoot sets - Topps, TSC, UD, Score, Pinnacle and its dozens of offshoots, Donruss, Donruss Studio, Fleer, it just goes on forever.
70s and 80s felt like there was a much more distinct order and hierarchy such that Fleet, Donruss, Topps, and UD had some really solid sets. They still hold up as classic while the 90s sets just havent aged well (literally and figuratively)

Because people like Kirk and Vance know that they’re just riding the gravy train of the current power structure (something this episode very explicitly pointed out about Kirk) and if you don’t ultimately care about how people perceive you, you can get pretty rich and powerful doing it. They know that leaning into it just raises their profile - unbothered in the eyes of conservatives and at least willing to self deprecate in the eyes of liberals.
On the flip side, actual lower and middle class conservatives are still trying to contort this current climate to fit their traditionally held sense of moral superiority over the immoral liberals and because those things don’t line up, anything like South Park that tries to lay that bare is perceived as an attack on them personally.
South Park’s quality has inarguably diminished as our social climate has become harder and harder to parody. It worked so well in the 90s and early 2000s because there was still a norm of behavior, both socially and politically, that everyone largely abided by - except South Park. It’s the whole foundation of counterculture comedy. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to present as counterculture when the President is doing stuff that would have been career suicide for a CEO let alone a politician just 10 years ago. That they’re still figuring out a way to produce something that resonates on some level is honesty impressive in its own right, even if it feels like we may never get another Asspen, Marjorine, Scott Tenerman, etc

It was fine but not quite on par with the shock value of the first episode. Now we wait and see if Vance, Noem, and Trump take personal offense and continue to fuel the fire. Doubt Kirk sees it as anything other than good publicity.

Not really everyone saw it coming from the moment Seth "was hurt"
Rollins getting “hurt” was pretty well done though. Legit sold it like a non contact freak ACL and LA Knight responded well in kayfabe to quickly put the match away. It was a solid work and now the loss to Roman and Uso by Reed and Breaker sets up some score settling between Roman and Seth, including some potential New Bloodline vs the Rollins/Heyman crew beef.

is a very fair criticism to bring up the fact that Biden was the first president in their history that they didn’t touch during his presidency.
It’s a fair question to beg but idk about it being fair criticism. They aired a total of 12 episodes during his presidency and 8 specials so there was already a lack of space to force him into relative to every other president. But Biden was also one of the least visible presidents we have ever had by design; the same handlers who insisted he was perfectly fine were also keeping him from making speeches and being out in public at a historic rate. Despite his oddities and personality quirks, there just wasn’t a lot to latch onto the way they’ve done with the Clintons and Gore for years. He was a boring President.
By the time his mental decline was insanely apparent in 2024, they hadn’t aired an episode since March 2023 and wouldn’t air another episode until literally 2 weeks ago because of the legal issues with HBO and Paramount. The only piece of content they released in all of 2024 was the Obesity special on Paramount+ because they were contractually obligated to release something.

If it was going to turn into another season of that, I was going to be very disappointed as they have already beaten that horse to death.
And as I’ve said in the last thread, this a far more honest and South Park-like take. The Garrison thing sucked from the start and never really should have been the approach. I’m far more interested in seeing how far and how long they’re willing to go with this concept knowing that it’s getting a direct reaction from Trump and the White House. I think they want Trump to try to cancel them (for a variety of reasons) and I’m really entertained by seeing of they can goad him into doing so.

Not because Biden and Hunter are above reproach but because it’s old news. Who the frick cares at this point but those who desperately want the spotlight off Trump?
