We have to stay in Conroe when we come out. Lack of hotels in College Station.

It’s not as big of a deal as they’re making it.
Getting to walk to the stadium instead of busing in is convenient.

So should accommodations be the deciding factor in who hosts regionals?
So making it a prerequisite that teams and staff have hotel rooms to stay in near the stadium where they are playing is going too far for you?? Seriously??

Nothings says hospitality like making your opponents stay in a place an hour+ away on a bus ride through the black hole of Texas.

They're receiving lodging within walking distance of the stadium. These aren't 90s dorms. Having been on campus for tours in the last couple of years, those dorms are better accommodations than more than a few of the hotels within the vicinity.

quote:Their accommodations for the traveling teams are better than hotels. What’s the problem? They have their own bed with a common sitting area. Do you think baseball players travel one player to a room? No, their normal situation is two players in a basic hotel room. This is more room than normal
They shouldn’t be hosting if they can’t guarantee accommodations.

Stayed in the Aggy hotel this weekend, TV didn't work, hot water was intermittent. For the money they charge, pretty weak.
Also what's in the "Hall of Champions"?

Well they didn’t secure a block of hotels which is a big oversight. Should be part of the bare minimum when submitting a bid you would think.

Taylor Swifts fans are in bed by 9 pm.

There are pictures of the dorms in this thread. How do you figure those dorms are better than a hotel? They pretty much have the same stuff (dresser, closet) but in the dorm you’re sleeping in a twin size bed.

They have a kitchen on each floor, food catered, and they can walk to the stadium. They’re also providing cleaning services just like you’d have in a hotel.
They’re also removing the bunks, so your picture isn’t 100% correct.
It’s also worth noting they’re going to have the place to themselves. With security. So no dealing with housing with the rest of the public in a regular hotel. Coaches will LOVE that shite.
You’re hung up on a player sleeping in a twin sized bed when they’re going to have better accommodations overall than they’d have at the La Quinta.

They have food catered and private rooms at every hotel they stay at, so that’s no different. I know the bunks are removable, but they are still sleeping in the same bed. You haven’t stated anything about the dorm that accommodates them better than a Holiday Inn, besides not having to interact with any guests. I guarantee you if you ask a player, they would trade having to stand in the elevator with a fan for being able to sleep in a queen size bed for the 5 or so nights that they are there.

The NCAA felt they were comparable. Here's the statement from the Committee itself:
Jon Hale LHL Twitter
So to those who suggested Kentucky lied about the situation, they didn't. They were fully transparent with the NCAA Committee and they agreed it's not an issue.
ETA: West Virginia was the only team who opted to stay in Louisville instead of in Lexington.

This is the typical kind of shite UK always does. This in no way surprises me. Got to do all they can to try and get to their second ever Super Regional appearance

And your coach just had to publicly beg for facility upgrades with the threat to leave.

"I always expect to be here, but I'm not going to shy away. ... I'm not going to get into it now, but I've been very vocal and challenging over the last 12 months," he said Saturday. "Just look at the writing on the wall. Look at where this program has been, and you walk around. You walk through the dugouts, you walk under the stadium, you see what differently have we done since 2000-Whatever.

Efforts to build a new state-of-the-art indoor practice facility, which was first announced at the 2020 iteration of the program's annual Lead-off Dinner, have also stalled. Louisville secured a $3 million donation towards building the facility in 2021, but ground has yet to be broken.
SI.com Dan McDonnell's future?
Now what region are the Cards playing in again this season? Poverty school as per usual.

Should just move it to Louisville.

#1 UK has such campus sprawl the dorms will actually be closer than any hotel
#2 UK gets the $$$, not the hotels, this is also not surprising.

Actually, the B1G has been sucking wind in coverage and games as host, it is not really surprising they added the closest SEC at the expense of the B1G. As a Card fan you should be happy with this as the ACC and SEC have history in the old SIAA and SoCon (pretty sure the Cards were in there long before the Metro).
