They shouldn’t be hosting if they can’t guarantee accommodations.
Nick mingeone remains the biggest piece of shite in the conference. And the conference has Chris Beard in it.

A host school SHOULD have enough hotel rooms nearby (10-25 miles or so) to accommodate the official parties of the 3 guest schools. If you do not have that available for any reason, you should not be hosting. UK could be the number one Regional seed but the site is somewhere else.

Well then it wouldn’t be a 1 seed. The best way to avoid this would be to play better and host yourself.
There is an awesome goat farm bed and breakfast just south of Lexington I enjoy staying at. Some horse farms also have interesting accommodations.

So what is the minimum number of hotel rooms a city should have before they can be considered to host? According to google, Lexington has about 8,000. They are just booked.
And why is a dorm room such a horrible option? Don’t thousands and thousands of college students live in them every year? Don’t you figure some of the players from these teams have lived in a dorm room if they don’t still. It isn’t like they dug a hole out in a field, threw a tarp over it, and said “here you go”.

Does UK not have a hotel on campus?

An UK is providing accommodations, although unconventional and not their first option. You act like they’re making people sleep under a bridge. Relax

I’m sorry, but the NCAA tournament should step in and move it to Morgantown or maybe somewhere with a large minor league park.
This is a bad look for the conference.

Did Kentucky's hosting bid acknowledge that teams would be staying in college dormitories?

But they do have accommodations. And they are within walking distance of the ballpark as well as a host of restaurants near campus.
You idiots read "dorm" and assumed they were in quansit huts on a military base in the '70s.

So should accommodations be the deciding factor in who hosts regionals?
They already are one of the deciding factors. Smaller schools submit their bid to host at a nearby minor league park all the time because their stadiums can’t accommodate the amount of people needed to host a regional. Obviously the NCAA approved this plan so it’s not really Kentucky’s fault. It still sucks for the 6’ 4” pitcher that is going to be sleeping in a twin size bed for the weekend and the visiting fans that will have to stay 1.5 hours away from the stadium.

UK owns all the property around there, no hotel is close so the dorms may actually be the closest lodging. Probably UK's way to scrounge some extra coin.

Weird trivia, the 2nd Tolly Ho location on Limestone is actually a Quonset hut from the WW II era. Can't tell from the outside because of the brick facade but if you had access when it was Tolly Ho you could see it in the attic.

The guy quoted in the OP is exaggerating and trying to sell clicks.
There's still several hotel rooms available within 25 miles of the stadium.

So don’t fricking submit a bid to host if you can’t guarantee hotels. It’s pretty simple and a major failure on UK’s part.

Ok? They will need 20-30 rooms per team in the same hotel. Doesn’t even factor in players families and then fans.

Obviously the NCAA approved their plan. So there’s a good chance there’s far more to the story than what ol boy in the OP tweeted out.

Well they didn’t secure a block of hotels which is a big oversight. Should be part of the bare minimum when submitting a bid you would think.

Lol wuuut. The hotels could have been sold out 6 months ago, you think all these teams secure 150 hotel rooms for any possible sporting event they may host 6 months down the line?
I think auburn had to stay 1.5 hours away for an even a year or so ago. It’s college athletics not the NBA finals. The kids will be fine. Bunch of millennial woosie boys on here.
