I am the original poster. What has been said in this thread that’s inaccurate besides the statement that the dorms they are staying at are nicer than hotels?

There's always plenty of hotel rooms in Baton Rouge because no one wants to visit that dump.

Oof.

Wow that’s supposed to be a “nice dorm that’s basically the same as a hotel”?

Depends on the hotel. They are nicer than 9/10 hotel rooms in the state of Arkansas.

Here is the room.

Looks like they ran into some issues last night.

Can confirm the tempurpedic mattress toppers was in fact a lie. There are none. A/C not working in Grant’s room. #LexingtonRegional

Update.
@wmattwells
is on the ball and the A/C problem is fixed and they have mattress toppers incoming for the players.

I understand UK's side of things. They can't control other events and presented something that should work. But they cheaped out and stuck them in the cheapest option when there are larger, newer, and nicer dorms. It's a logistics nightmare for those traveling not on the team.

They should have worked out a deal with UL or the Bats to use their park and host everyone in a bigger city.

At this point fricke it. Everyone wants to bitch and complain and run this into the ground. I hope things actually turn out as bad as people are acting like. I hope there’s bed bugs, fire alarms in the middle of the night, toilets overflowing, etc. if WVU wants to bitch the whole TWO nights they’ll be there instead of focusing on the game, let them.

Hopefully WVU wins the regional and leaves giant shits all over your shitty dorm rooms.

You think they shouldn't say something if the AC is out?

Kid probably doesn’t know how to work it bc he’s a dumbass. As this point the players are gonna exaggerate everything to get clicks. Welcome to the social media era

Don’t be mad just bc Lexington is poppin. Railbird will have twice the number attend than people that live in Morgantown.

They also easily could’ve stayed in a hotel in Louisville if they wanted to. It’s an easy straight drive

It's pretty lame they put them in the old dorms. I thought this is what they were getting.

Bats are in town this whole weekend against Worcester.

It would be a cold day in Hell when UofL coordinates to allow Kentucky to host anything in Louisville.

That's what Indiana is doing, staying at the alternative hotel in Louisville. They all had that option.

Question: Since this is an annual event, what happens if UK hosts next year? Do they get to play the "We didn't know this might be a problem" card again, or should they be told to hit the road if they don't reserve the required hotel rooms for visitors like, now?

I am not sure 90+ min meets reasonable proximity. That would be like sticking a basketball team in College Station for the Final Four in Houston.

I posted where the NCAA committee commented and said that since Kentucky provide dorm accommodations, they felt that was sufficient.

Louisville to Lexington (going speed limit) is right at 90 minutes. And that’s only if they were to put them in downtown lodging. You could get that under 90 minutes easy putting them in lodging in the East End of Louisville.
