Sleeping in a train seat the night before the game, anyone?

Everyone here is assuming they don’t.

It’s far more likely that Kentucky offered this to teams as an option if they don’t want to drive to the stadium given the traffic on Saturday will be messy.

Allegedly Auburn had this issue when it went to Oregon State in the Super last season and had to stay almost an hour away.

ETA: Looks like the Auburn fan confirmed it.

We have to stay in Conroe when we come out. Lack of hotels in College Station.

The hotels could have been sold out 6 months ago, you think all these teams secure 150 hotel rooms for any possible sporting event they may host 6 months down the line?

People on this board need to realize that college baseball is small potatoes.

Now that I'm officially a Kentuckian...

They should stay in Louisville... It's a much better town than Lexington anyway.

My guess is Kentucky did offer lodging but it likely wasn’t close to the stadium. I’m sure every single team that’s ever hosted doesn’t have a hotel right next to its baseball stadium.

What it sounds like is Kentucky opened this up for teams so they won’t have to drive to the stadium on what’s going to be a heavy traffic day in Lexington.

Leave it to the rant to nuke this out of proportion.. The dorms actually are probably better anyway... Wait aren't they college kids? Don't they live in athletic dorms anyway

Many, many moons ago when I was an undergraduate at Austin Peay, I went to Goodwill, bought a king size bed frame, and got some scrap plywood from a lumber yard. Took the twin size beds in my dorm room and combined the mattresses to make a king size bed! Just make sure the king size frame is adjustable unless the twin size mattresses are XL. If you’re taller than 6’2”, sleep diagonally. The plywood holds the twin mattresses within the frame.

Exactly. Should be fairly easy to block off 75-80 rooms with 6 months notice.

Just block off the rooms? The redneck festival was announced 6 months ago according to UK’s lord and savior Matthew Jones?

The regional should be pulled immediately from Lexington
That is insane and the fact that parents and visitors from these teams have no where to stay is pathetic

Even Dallas made arrangements for Women's Final Four with Taylor Swift in town

Yep. And Lexington is one of the bigger host cities.

A host school SHOULD have enough hotel rooms nearby (10-25 miles or so) to accommodate the official parties of the 3 guest schools

So what is the minimum number of hotel rooms a city should have before they can be considered to host? According to google, Lexington has about 8,000. They are just booked.

The Railbird Festival has 40,000 people attending for 2 days. The tickets went on sale in December or January, and rooms would have started being booked about the same time...or at least within a month or so.

Dallas

That's a city with more than 1.3 million people, adjacent to a city with 1 million people and a metro of 6 million. Dallas could have multiple Taylor swift concerts and still have availability

Did you really compare DFW to Lexington on hotel availability and accommodations lmao.
