re: How many seasons will Kiffin be at LSU?
Posted by GeorgeWest on 1/29/26 at 12:03 pm to Gunny Hartman
IMO, there are three possibilities that are realistic for Kiffin at LSU.
1. He fails at 8-4 or worse. IN that case, he'll be at LSU three seasons.
IMO, this is the least plausible possibility of these three.
2. He wins (9-3 or better) and makes the CFP every other year. He stays 6 seasons and then takes an NFL head job.
3. He wins BIG at LSU (10-2 or better), makes the CFP every season, wins a NC, then either (a) finishes his career at LSU OR (b) takes an NFL job.
I suppose that is really 4 possibilities.

WW set a standard I believe we should seek. Always finish in the top 4 of the SEC and make the NCAA. If we do that, our attendance will be very good (10K plus on average and more for SEC games)

We should never wear black at all in any sport at LSU.

We left at halftime. We aren't going back until they can MM.

McM's contract was 7 or 8 years? I never got a straight answer on that.
re: McMahon owed 80% of remaining contract when fired. Who does Verge call to pay it?

"Future earnings?" I predict that wont be more than $250K a year as an asst at a midmajor.
re: Men's Basketball and why haven't they progressed?

IMO, MM is neither a motivator nor a floor coach. This year's team has enough talent to go 9-9 in the SEC but the team is wildly inconsistent.
CMM cannot leave soon enough for me. My wife and I walked out at halftime and wont be back again this season as long as MM is the HC. Hell, we made it to Jan 28 this season but couldn't make it to Feb 1 like last season. Buying my season tickets is like throwing cash into a firepit.

Scott Woodward fired Brian Kelly NOT Jeff Landry. Gov. Landry got SW fired for political reasons and not for SW's failings as an AD.
We need Kelly to stay out of LSU Athletics unless used for a prop.

1. Basketball arena is top priority, IMO. We do not need to spend money on fan stuff at Alex Box.
2. As far as baseball is concerned, spending money on players is top priority.
3. Jay Johnson would do well anywhere that baseball is an important priority. He is a great head coach as well as a builder/maintainer of a program. He will not find a place that has more dedicated fans/support for baseball than LSU.

re: Besides Texas schools, is any SEC team adapting to new world better than LSU?

In the last 5 years, Georgia has been the most successful program in the SEC. Maybe that will change, but neither Texas nor Texas A&M comes anywhere close to doing what UGA has.

9-3, no playoff.

I think Arkie moved the game up to an earlier time Saturday.

LSU has a SHOT at getting a #1 seed. To do that, we need to NOT lose more than one more SEC game through the SEC Ty.
we play Bama, @ Texas, @OMiss, Tennessee, then maybe Carolina and Texas or Vandy in the SEC Ty. Win all those and the rest as well and we'll be a #1 seed.

re: Apologies to WBB, but the LSU baseball team deserves a bigger percentage of rev. share

(Note: I love all of these sports and am a season ticket holder to both LSU Baseball and LSUWBB as well as football and MBB.)
1. College WBB draws more fans and more TV viewers than college baseball. That is a fact.
2. Fan/media interest in WBB nationally is on the rise with college baseball remaining steady.
I have no solution to the revenue sharing issue, but reducing LSUWBB to less than the 5% recommended in the House Settlement should not happen.
Personally, I would not give any sport revenue sharing at LSU except fball, MBB, WBB, and baseball.

I do not believe that Tennessee and Vandy, who currently lead the SEC, are gonna end up on top. Still probably gonna be Carolina at maybe 14-2 with LSU at 13-3.
I think LSU will lose to Texass in Austin on Feb 5 and the Feb 14 game versus Carolina is 50-50.
LSU needs to absolutely win all the SEC games versus teams not named Texas and Carolina. Those late season losses at Bama and OMiss at home hurt us last season, IMO.
The goal is to get LSU seeded as far away from UConn as possible.

The ONLY reason to be in any conference is the TV money. SEC games are always among the top watched regular season games on TV.

UGA should definitely be in that game. UGA will be the overwhelming favorite to win the SEC next season.

Starting in 26-27, WBB will start receiving a significant media revenue both from the SEC contract and from the NCAA Ty payouts.

The only decent team vandy has played is LSU.
Texas is 1-1 vs SCarolina and has played other ranked teams.

The Big10 controls college football now.
