Yup, and honestly 30 million is not alot to go around for 100 kids.

It's not really going to all 105 kids. The back 20, that was previously filled by walk-ons, is essentially just scholarshipped walk-ons now. They aren't getting rev share.

And also be paying attention.
I just went back and took a small sample of box scores from the better teams that High Point played last year, and the results on Simpson were mixed. In two games against Wake Forest he went something like 1 for 8 with 5 Ks. He fared slightly better against the Big Ten and Sunbelt teams they played.

I don't think it means he's going to be bad, I just think it means he doesn't have a lock on a starting job.
Looking at former players in pro ball to see how they're progressing, I saw that the Astros released Travinski at the end of last season. Riley Cooper was also released by the Orioles. I know Cooper was trying to get on with another affiliated team. I haven't seen any updates on Travinski.

He probably says who in the article.

Yeah but Schmidt over Evans is a crime and there really is no rationale to explain it but nonetheless gonna be a fun year

Yeah, any rationale to explain would be based on potential outcomes so far down the road that it’s useless. Evans’ delivery carries a little more reliever risk than Schmidt’s. But that “reliever risk” is a term used to describe that a guy who is a starter in college may have to move to the bullpen in, or to make, the majors. So, useless.

As a rating of who is poised to have a better sophomore season, Evans absolutely should be above Schmidt.

You can quibble with individual rankings here or there, but really I’m just struck by how strong this class is nationally. That list is loaded, regardless of if they got every placement right.

Just throw in a line about how "time in a cave ages a man" and boom, problem solved.
All this context is overwhelming
The work put in to increase velo happens pretty much any time that isn't in season.

yeah those were the arms i talked about adding, and maybe they just had a bad weekend in Omaha, but they threw like 20 guys in the games against us and arkansas and gave up 16 runs.

That was their strategy all year because they didn't have a true ace. So it was short starts and heavy bullpen usage. They just ran out of gas at the end of the season. The reason the addition of the two new pitchers is important (and they added other freshmen that could contribute too), is that those two guys slot in right at the top. You also have another year of development for guys that were already good. So they're conceivably getting better while simultaneously being asked to do less.

but i don’t think they had a single pitcher in the CWS that would habe started more than 1-2 SEc teams.

All three of their weekend arms would have been welcome nearly everywhere in the SEC as Sunday guys. The issue is that they weren't really better than SEC Sunday guys.

But with the addition of Reddeman and Cervantes (who D1 lists as the Saturday guy as a freshman), those guys roles change significantly. All three weekend starters are back. And yes, all of them had fewer Ks than innings pitched, but only one of them was egregiously low. Two of them would have had more Ks than innings with just one more K per appearance.

Tidwell just got there, and given the new manager (whose conversations about Tidwell eventually paved the way for this job), him and Kilen are probably some degree of untouchable.

The most common trade partner mentioned for the Cardinals on Donovan has been Seattle, so I'm happy to see the Giants enter the mix. If only to have competition among suitors. The Mariners are unwilling to part with any pitchers that have MLB service time, it seems. And the Cardinals are setting a pretty high price for Donovan. He's not a must-move like Arenado is.

They need a way to get more water running through there for all the meth related fire incidents.

Did LSU ever offer Harris out of high school? He was Southern Miss’s Sunday starter as a true freshman last year.

I don't know where he stood on LSU's board. He committed to Southern Miss pretty early.

That is bullshite.

It is complete bullshite.

It probably breaks down to two things: trying to buy votes from a specific demographic, and not wanting to spend what it would take to collect the taxes/enforce the rules from a group of people who are largely ignorant.

Neither of those reasons are good reasons.

Some Ole Miss fig
William Patrick and Omar Serna a listed among Baseball America's top 25 college freshmen for this upcoming season. They are LSU's only representatives on the list.

Not too surprising as they were considered big draft prospects and Baseball America is more prospect focused, soliciting opinions from scouts and MLB front office people when putting together lists like this.
