Found this ESPN article from 2009, so only a couple of years into Saban's run. Has OU as #1. Bama isn't even top 5. Saban put them ahead of the pack in a massive way.
Weird considering at that point Alabama had 7 titles from AP/UPI alone at that point. There’s definitely a recency and geography bias in that ranking.

Traditional SEC programs:
1. Alabama
2. UGA/LSU (can’t decide, but they both passed UT in the past decade or so) (UGA 16 SECC, 3 NC, LSU 12 SECC, 4 NC)
4. UT 13 SECC, 2 NC
5. AU/UF (can’t decide, (AU bad from 1916- early 50s, top 12 nationally or so since, 8 SECC & 2 NCs, never really dominant even in the SEC except 3 years in the late 80s) (UF mediocre 1916-1989, top 10 or so nationally since, 8 SECC & 3 NC, dominated the SEC in the 90s, kept Bama under Stallings from dominating, had a great 3 year run in the mid aughts nationally til Saban arrived at Alabama, changed SEC offense under Spurrier and Meyer) I’ve almost talked myself into giving UF a slight edge because of offensive innovation. But not yet.

Someone doesn't know the history of the SEC.

It's not your team's fault or anything and I'm certainly not saying they aren't valid, but in 2021 you probably shouldn't have been there to begin with. Maybe you could say LSU's 2007 was similar,

Supporting data for "All time SEC program Rankings"
Just data, OK?
Legendary Winning Streaks
From 1948 through 1957, the University of Oklahoma football team achieved a monumental overall record of 95 wins, 6 losses, and 2 ties (95–6–2).
• The 31-Game Streak: After losing the 1948 season opener to Santa Clara, Oklahoma did not lose another game for over two years. They won 31 consecutive games before falling to Kentucky in the 1951 Sugar Bowl.
Stormin in Norman
• The 47-Game Streak: Following a loss to Notre Dame and a tie with Pittsburgh early in 1953, Oklahoma launched a 47-game winning streak that spanned from October 1953 to November 1957. This remains the longest undefeated winning streak in college football history. Ironically, the historic streak was finally snapped by Notre Dame in a 7–0 shutout in Norman.
There's a reason for the rankings.

A&M should not be ahead of Arkansas.

No
1. Texas has 1 championship in the last 50 plus years
2. What they did in other conferences doesn’t matter.

The thread is talking about the entire history of the current group of SEC teams. Believe it or not... the former Big !2 and SWC teams did have a history prior to joining the SEC.
Of course their histories might be different if they had played in the SEC but to automatically assume that wouldn't have been good in the SEC flies against the evidence we DO have .regarding their performance against SEC teams historically.
For instance, the five teams that joined the SEC from the Big 12/SWC have a combined record of 14-10-2 against Alabama as members of those leagues. Three of them (Texas, OU, Missouri) had winning records against Bama.

No conference realignment program has ever won the SEC or won a natty as a SEC member. Until a non original SEC team wins anything of significance under a SEC logo, no one cares about yalls history. Yall joined us, not the other way around

Alabama and Oklahoma is one and two and no argument really. Texas is 3 but not as clear as the first two. Georgia, LSU, Tennessee….are next 3 but strong arguments can be made either way. Florida and Auburn are 7 and 8 can be debated. A and M, Arkansas, and Missouri are next and you could argue the order. Ole Miss is 12. Kentucky is 13. South Carolina 14. Mississippi State 15. Vandy 16.

LSU and UGA are much more similar than UGA and Texas historically. LSU/UGA is a toss up, but people give them recency bias I guess.

IMO it's really impossible to rank these teams since 1936 except for maybe Bama being number 1 overall. There were so many differing schedules over the course of time. Hell prior to 1974 SEC teams were only required to play 6 conference games and before 1969 some teams appointed non-conference games as conference games because of scheduling difficulties. It would be much more accurate and easier to rank if the SEC had only 8 teams and they all had played each other every year.
Then add into the fact that 4 teams came from the old SW/Big 8/Big12 conferences and it makes it next to impossible to judge, especially as far as where to rank OU and UT. Especially since OU came from the Big Eight which had really only one other very good program in Nebraska. And Texas came from mostly the SWC which had maybe several good teams in the 30's and 40's but only Arkansas was fairly consistently a good program until some of that conference merged with some of the Big 8.
Just so many variables but since 1974 I'd say the teams in the SEC faced much harder schedules in most seasons.
